I persoanlly cant stand the conversion here. I can visually picture a foot, a mile, a yard, gallon ect. For example a topo map, if it says a Mountain is 3290' to the peak and I see the valley or lake below is 2120' I can visualize that mountain. The new maps in meters is like WTF. Height, Im 5'10" how simple not in hundreds of units, 5' and 10/12ths of the 6th, simple. Now survey is a bit of a trick for newcomers because its divided into 10th of feet, as if a mutation between metric and inches... lol. If its 20* below zero I know its friggin cold, in Celcius none of it means anything to me. 4 qts to a gallon... a gallon divided into equal 1/4 how simple.

I can see the merit of everything being in 10's... for the mentally challanged :p

So its a matter of what you are accustomed to. Other countries are used to their meters and divisions by 10 unfortunantly we are not or visa versa.

Now go way back and we had rods, chains and other strange measures and thats all become greek today in this country. Another thing I never caught on to was knots, means nothing to me, I need to know MPH for it to make sense. KPH same deal.

Haha, I'd use metric/SI units but I know most of the forumers use American units so I just converted it to eet and inches. I'd be 178cm and 76kg. :D

People should stop catering to Americans all the time. I mean, if we can look up height, weight, temperature, and so on in a converter, surely they can do the same.

in america is all wrong. the entire world uses meters, celsius, kilometers, kilograms... oh jeee

Britain only 'officially' uses the metric scale. We still have MPH on our speedos and road signs etc, drink in pints and so on.

Typically I hate people that are taller than me (as I want to be taller). I usually feel like a damn dwarf around them, not because I'm shorter than those tall peeps, but because I am broader and weigh more than them typically.

What I'm trying to say is I'm like a tall dwarf.

Edit: My fondness of hammers doesn't help my situation.

I have discovered recently that I find women who are taller than me attractive. Unfortunately, I'm almost 76 inches :)p), so I don't see many.

I don't like tall women, though, just ones that are taller than me. It's weird. And when guys are taller than me I think about whether I could beat them in a fight, assuming that I just slugged them unexpectedly.
