OK i'm bored and I thought I would bring up a question my son asked me..look up it's the thread title :p

Me, i attempt to be a vocalist, sometimes i succed others i dont. My vocal heros are-

Henry Rollins - His whole stage presence has always blown me away :headbang:

Bruce D - well because he is Bruce really :p

Tom Araya- again the attitude really

thats all i can think of right now these arent really people that made me wann sing so much as guys I look upto because they are brilliant onstage and record

Tom Waits. First on my list, by a long way. If God could be a musician, he'd wish he could be Waits.

Clapton. If God could play guitar, he'd wish he was as good as Clapton.

Beethoven, Mozart, Bach. Two hundred years can't be wrong.

Bruce. He's Bruce.

Henry Rollins
Bruce Dickinson
Jorne Lande
Eddie Van Halen
Steve Vai
Michael Anthony

As I'm a singer of some standing, I would have to say that the following warblers are my heroes:

The Voice of Rock, Glenn Hughes
David Coverdale
Steve Perry

They're the ones that I would list as my influences if I was a rock star, anyway. :)

Here are my main idols, that I love not just for the talent at their instrument but for other reasons:

Alice Cooper - songwriting, voice, attitude, stage presense, influence, intelligence, he has it all!
Vinnie Vincent - awesome songwriter, top notch guitarist, and a true rock & roller
Nikki Sixx - this man IS rock & roll! Great songwriter and performer...
Eddie Van Halen - for totally reinventing rock guitar, turning it into the flashy '80s thing I love
Blackie Lawless - Great songwriter, performer & businessman... awesome attitude, love his voice.
Paul Stanley - for being the driving force in my fave band! AWESOME songwriter and performer! Living out every rock & roll fantasy too!
Bret Michaels - like Vinnie, he is a true rock & roller! Also a great songwriter and performer!

Here are some musicians who's talent I just admire:

George Lynch
Warren DeMartini
Sebastian Bach
Bruce Dickinson
Ronnie James Dio
Jake E Lee
Randy Rhoads
Tony Harnell
...etc etc etc!

I also admire Stevie Rachelle from Tuff for being so dedicated in trying to be a glam metal superstar for the last 16 years and still trying even though he has gotten nowhere except for releasing 2 little known albums on independent labels in the early 90s lol! Also I admire him for living out the rock star life and screwing more porn stars and models than pretty much any other rock star, and he isn't even a rock star really!

I admire him for having a girl's name for a surname. That takes dedication too, don't forget that.

Shit man, do you like Vinnie Vincent? Fuck I never knew. You should have told us!

Alice Cooper is the man!

Mike Muir was great over the years. I love his lyrics, especially on albums like How Will I Laugh Tomorrow..... and Lights, Camera, Revolution.

I have a few. The first one would probably be Steve Harris, for being so damn good at what he does that made me want to play an instrument. The next would probably be the mixtures of James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett for making me want to play guitar specifically. Since then, the main one would be Bruce Dickinson for amazing songwritting, vocal ability, stage presence, and just being a brilliant front man in general. I have a few others, but their the main ones. :)

How the FUCK could i forget Nikki Sixx?!?!!? Troops, you said it perfectly!!

Mike Patton. Because he doesn't give a fuck what the "people" want. He does what he wants. Everything he has been involved with has been somewhat magical imo. He's just the fucking man.

Probably Ozzy I know he pretty fuked now. But he came up for the backstreets of Brimingham and made something of him self ,even if he a bit of a joke now.
He and his band influenced so many others back then and still now . Ok he an'it the greatest singer but he is a trueshow man and geniue . I still one day would like to meet the man..........
