Whose cover did you like more of Remember Tomorrow?

I much more dig Dream Theater's take on "To tame a land". Mostly because i like the original song already so much....

Shitty vocals in this one :(

I actually really like the vocals. I still prefer the Opeth version, but I like this one as well. More original take on the song than Opeth.

It's just seems odd that Metallica are covering Maiden, I always saw them as their contemporaries, and you don't often see these people covering their contemporaries.

of course lars proves that he still sucks at drums. listen to the bass drum work in the verses. awful, overplayed, and shitty sounding drums. what a douche he is

Iron Maiden were a big influence for Metallica as they were part of the NWOBHM.

E: And the cover is pretty good imo.

The "SKYYYYYYYYYY...YEAH" part of the Opeth cover always makes me laugh. IMO, the Metallica cover scores extra points for not simply playing the song note for note. Both are good.

Yeah Lars' drumming is so bad. I thought it was amusing though when I went to the metallica message board late last night when the song was released and it was a bunch of 'OMG THIS IS AMAZING!'. Then I listened and it was like..meh. Anyway, I've always been a fan of hets voice but I think they're both about the same. Could just be I don't like the song very much as neither stand out.

The drumming/phrasing/everything is obnoxious in the beginning (and whenever it returns to that soft-part), but most of it 2:45 onward everything works really, really well in my opinion. Gotta say I prefer Opeth's version.

Not even any competition!

Opeth kept the original vibe of the song, but gave it more of a haunting sound! Metallica tried too hard to make it their own and ended up sounding like a high school cover band. Metallica has lost 99.99999999% of my respect, sorry.

:blush:Opeth's version actually gives Maiden a run for their money. Although, I'm not saying it's better...No I'm not... No!!:OMG:

I fuckin' luv Maiden!!

Lol so right. I hate that asshole, ugh. But yeah, Opeth's is better but I guess thats not saying much.

yea that was pretty cool. Labrie will never be as good as bruce, but he did pretty awesome on most of it. when I originally saw this album/tracklisting on Maiden's site the only track I was interested in hearing was this one. Metallica's cover of remember tomorrow sounded like garbage. I couldn't even listen past the first verse it was so lame and boring.

Actually I don't like the Opeth version of the song. The Metallica version is slightly better but still sucks.

Opeth haven't made a cover that is great yet.

Am i the only guy in this world who absolutely cant stand hetfield's vocals? could never get into them.

I think the vocals are the only thing in this cover that's somewhat special. I like the "raw" take on those long notes.
The creeping deathish intro and outro sounds stupid IMO.

Yeah, the beginning and the end was almost disaster. But When it really started... actually good.
