Why can't music stores display decent shit?

OK I know music stores get a little busy sometimes, but not busy enough to fix their showcase. Today I went to Sam Ash to try and find a new guitar and every guitar I picked up was out of tune and not set up, even the more expensive guitars were out of tune. I see two guys at the guitar counter just standing there talking. I know idiot ass people come in and de-tune these guitars but damn, you're just standing there...pick up a few guitars and tune them when you're not busy.

I think the easiest answer is that the types of people who buy guitars in music stores either don't care or don't notice. Never been in a Sam Ash, but every Guitar Center I've ever been to has generally been about 70% Ibanez Gios. There are always some gems to find, but it's mostly dads buying stuff for their kids and people who don't know enough about brands and options to do research online.

Yeah true but even then, tune the damn things. I just wanna go in, pick up a guitar I like the look of, see how it feels, plug it in and see how it sounds. But everyone I had try and tune. One was so out of tune and the neck was warped there was no hope for it...and the price tag on it was $695.00, Really you're not gonna sell it if it's all fucked up like that. Makes me wonder if guitar manufacturers know their products are represented like this.

I went into a Guitar Center once and played a new Stingray and a new Warwick both of which were in such disrepair that they were unplayable. I posted a rant about it here and got called out by a GC employee for not calling ahead and having them set up instruments I wanted to play. So there you go.

You shouldn't have to call ahead, they should have that shit already setup. It's funny you named Warwick, because that was one of the basses I played that sounded like hell. and I have heard so much good about them. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a place trying to sell something to me.
