Why did such a large Pagan Black Metal scene develop in Poland?

I don't know why, but there sure are some great Polish black metal bands, like Graveland and Gontyna Kry. Maybe there were certain conditions that caused these nationalistic, almost Nazi-like beliefs in the musicians? You can also ask, why did also it happen in Norway several years earlier? Maybe the Polish scene somehow was influenced by the Norwegan scene?

I don't know much about Polish metal, but I do know that Poland unfortunately has a pretty big neo-Nazi problem. It could have to do with communism, since fascism is pretty much the antithesis of communism. Same with eastern Germany, which of course borders on Poland - the last time I was in Germany, my friends and I had a run-in with nazis on a train between Prague and Berlin. Scary. And of course I'm not saying that all Poles or Germans are nazis, so please don't take offense.
