Why do you love Opeth?

Simply put;

Atmosphere, melody, unpredictablity, contrast between brutality and beauty.

Yeah. The unpredictibility of Opeth is one of the keys to their
greatness, for sure. But once again: how do they do it?
Well, for instant, in the middle (it may seem) they just cut to a
acoustic break. A very nice example for all rookies (so you know what
I'm talking about) listen to The Drapery Falls when the heavy part
is over.

Another thing I LOVE about Opeth and which have come to do myself,
when I create music, is to get rid of intros. Yeah, sometimes they
have long intros, but many long songs don't have intros!
They just cut to the chase! Love that since it's kinda rare...
Seems like many other artists do long intros when they write a long
song.

For those who have known me here since 2001, I too was dealing with a situation, and Opeth and this forum helped me through some pretty heavy shit. For me, it was Blackwater Park and more especially The Drapery Falls that took me away when I needed to leave the real world for a bit.

That's another thing about Opeth - just by listening to Opeth I can close my eyes and be wisked away someplace. It's amazing coming to in an hour and realizing that even though your body was there, you weren't.

I know exactly what you mean. My Arms Your Hearse did and keep doing that for me. :wave:
