Why exactly is Gers still in IRON MAIDEN?

Ah gimme a break. TM was a joke album, something Bruce did to waste some time while playing in Iron Maiden in no way you can compare that album with the great post-Maiden stuff he made. Albums that for sure will would have been crap having Gers instead of Roy Z, Adrian Smith or even Alex Dickson.

To me TM is no representative of Bruce's discography at all, basically apocriphal to me :err: (and I have it and like it nevertheless at its level)

i also like TM though. great album

I think next time Gers falls off the stage, Harris will pull him aside and say "well mate, (eyes darting around..)the doctor suggested you take about 3-6 years off to recover properly. It's gonna be rough, but somehow we'll find a way to go on without ya'."

May the powers that be makes you prophet :D

Since the tread was already hijacked let's get clear. Lauren sex appeal is overrated, I take Doro, Angela Gossow, Christina Scabbia or the entire Volnaya Staya any given day.

You know if and when I ever get a chance to interview or call in to a radio show I'll ask him if Tattooed Millionaire was a "joke." I can guess what his answer will be but let's hear it from the horse's mouth. I never said it was a better album than let's say Chemical Wedding. I was merely pointing out that Gers, who I could careless about played good rock guitar on that album.

ask him. doesn't it say in the new remastered version that bruce wanted to do something different than the sound of iron maiden

Maybe I overreacted, the album wasn't a joke (making jokes of that kind are costly, recording is not cheap). Bruce wanted to do something different from Maiden and pay a kind of tribute to the music he grew on with, he said so in an interview at the time. Hence personal songs like 'Born in 58' and the cover of 'All The Young Dudes'. And Gers probably was good for that kind of album but I feel he's not for Iron Maiden or the following Bruce solo material, but I bet any other guitar player could have done the same or better is not an album that requires that level of skill.

Never cared for his on stage antics. We've all seen someone toss their guitar in the air and spin around with the strap, so do we really need to see it 10 times per gig?? Saw them front row at the Forum in Feb and we hung out on Dave's side.

And Lauren fills out those leather pants quite nicely. Her stage banter could use some work though. "FOOKING 'ELL!"

well they often do talk about how many more possibilities there are live with 3 guitars. they said, especially on their last 3 albums, there have been many more guitar tracks and it helps to have 3 live instead of 2.

they are also probably great friends, as they are with adrian, and wouldnt be wanting to kick anyone out.

and at this point, id be surprised if anybody really wanted to see that happen.

Well here in lies the problem. I love this band, but they have not captured the 3-guitars never mind 2-guitars lately in thier production. Sometimes I can barely hear one guitar...and the 1-guitar we should hear more of is Adrians, he is the man. A great band with great material...but seriously under-produced at times!

They're english so they like to joke around, Gers is the biggest joker of all time. The guy drives me nuts but I can understand why they want him in the band for many different reasons plus like already mentioned, he's been in Maiden longer than Smith.
