Im getting a new monitor and was wondering if getting a widesreen made any sense, will I see more or will it just stretch the veiw.Im using cubase 4

You can set the resolution to do either. My laptop (which is basically my DAW nowadays as it's sooo much better than my desktop) is a 17" widescreen, and I have the resolution set so it displays a true 16:9 widescreen image (not a regular 4:3 stretched). I use Nuendo, and it's super handy to have access to more faders on screen when the mixer section is on screen. It also allows for more of the audio to be displayed (the waveforms) even when zoomed in, which cuts down on scrolling.

I find it very handy to have a widescreen.

+1 my laptop is widescreen and it totally kicks ass - it's native resolution is 1280x800, which is actually 14.4x9 (rather than 16:9, which would be 1280x720), but it's still an improvement over standard 4:3.

I just bought a 22" widescreen today to replace my 17" crt. The difference is unreal. Can recommend it enough and you will definitely never regret it. With the cubase mixer alone it can show 21 channels on screen!

I have an Apple 23" Cinema HD display. If I were to get another wide screen monitor, it would be a Dell though. Much more for your money, and the picture quality is almost as good as Apple.
