Windows 7 Upgrade question..

Do you need Vista before you can upgrade to 7? I'm currently running XP. I've heard that in order to go on the 7 route you first have to upgrade to vista. This sounds like b/s.

I recommend doing a fresh install. There's always a problem when you upgrade.

Aye - fresh install of Win 7. Are you going the x64 route, or sticking with the memory restrictions of 32 bit? If going the x64 route, I would suggest you get at least Win 7 Home Premium, but I suggest Win 7 Professional because the memory limits are greatly increased - Win 7 Home Premium supports up to 16 GB or RAM and Pro is up to 192 GB. Win 7 Home Basic is 8 GB, Win 7 Starter is only 2 GB. Sure, it still depends on the physical limitations of your motherboard, but the ability to eventually get up to at least 16 GB would be very nice as sample libraries keep getting larger and larger now that systems can support such large samples.
