so stemming of other threads, if there is a big enough interest/need for a windows guide for optimizing your computer for audio production only, i will start one.

so vote yes or no, i need at least 30-40 yes votes to make worth my time. because this is huge and broad subject that needs to be specific and detailed, sneap style.

this guide would for the hardcore audio only system, if you have questions/suggestions lets hear them.

I don't use Windows for audio anymore, but i voted yes. a really solid guide based on the needs of audio engineers would be awesome and very valuable to windows users.

I think the guide should cover both XP and Vista, and if possible Windows7, because i assume there are plenty of people out there who are comfortable with their Vista setups and could use a good optimization guide.

I don't think I myself necessarily need a guide, but I don't think this should even be a question because even so, you think you've got it all covered but there are always new things to learn. There are going to be many who will benefit from this guide so I voted yes.

yes definately for xp and if possible bare in mind not everyone has an audio dedicated machine

Hands up which Mac users voted #3

I did. :heh:

I decided to make a quick "Windows Optimization Guide For Audio Production"

Done.

I'll give you a guide:

- Run a completely blank system with no firewalls or virus protection. Install the bare minimum amount of drivers.
- Right click my computer, properties, advanced, performance settings- radio tab adjust for best performance and click OK.
- Overclock the crap out of it.

~ End

Alternatively plenty of detailed guides have been done before, so i see next to no point in going through it all again:

Maybe an idiots guide would be good? I dont really view this sort of thing as optimizing for audio, rather optimizing for general best pc performance.

That's pretty much my home set up at the moment Kev.I still think it'd be appreciated though, but i have just qualified as senior and so can't really say i know how many times it has been covered already.
