In a recent thread, I mentioned that this tour would be my 4th time seeing Opeth. However, that didn't seem right to me, so I checked and actually it was my 6th time. No two of these shows were on the same tour.
So I started thinking about which songs I had heard and which I hadn't. I did a little research, made a little Excel file, and created my all-time set list for Opeth. Deliverance appeared the most (5 times) which is no real surprise, followed by Ghost of Perdition and The Baying of the Hounds (both 3 times). Every other song that was played appeared either 2 times or only once.
Next, I looked at all of the songs that I had not heard live. In this list are a few gems that I am dying to hear. What I did for this thread was create a set list of 10 songs from those. Here is what I came up with (in reverse album order):
Burden
Harlequin Forest
Hope Leaves
A Fair Judgment
The Funeral Portrait
Moonlapse Vertigo
Serenity Painted Death
Karma
Epilogue
Advent
How awesome would that set list be? They are all realistic additions to any set list, IMO. I'm sure that it will never happen that I get to hear all 10 of these, but this is my wish list.
So, my challenge to you is to do the same. Create a 10 song set list made entirely of songs you've never heard live before.
