Wish Me Luck

it's over and i am relieved. I lost both my matches, but the first one was pretty epic. I was down 5-0 and on my back when i got a nice reversal from mount (2 pts) and moved straight into side control (3 pts) and tied it. time ran out and i was completely exhausted. we got a minute break and then started again. after 40 seconds or so i got caught in an armbar. second match was against a brazilian who had probably 7 inches on me and 15lbs. he got me in a body triangle which is really awkward and exhausting. He eventually worked in a gi choke from my back. he was aggressive and ultra good. also very gracious and courteous afterwards. all in all it was fun and a little nerve wracking but i learned a LOT. Undecided about doing it again but i love jiu jitsu a million times more now and cant wait to keep training. now we off to eat pizza, drink beerz and watch UFC 100 :kickass:

edit: more later, with pics. posting from phone now.

Here are some pics from the first match. I don't have any from the second, unfortunately.

The person who took these pics didn't get any of us before we got to the ground, but basically I sort of pulled guard and from there was very surprised that I got this close right away to a triangle.

I was never able to get his arm across though, and he eventually fought out of it.

Now he's trying to take my back. That's my coach in the foreground.

He fails though and I'm back to guard, working a pass. He actually catches me in a triangle as I'm doing so which is a noob mistake on my part. D'oh.

But one of my favorite triangle escapes is very simple and worked swimmingly here. Just posture up and shrug him off to one side.

Now I'm in side control, scoring points :)

Time expires and it's tied 5-5. We have to go to overtime. I could barely breathe by now but I knew I had to keep going hard. Here's how overtime started.

He tried to pull guard and I stayed on my feet. This was a mistake because he threw on a quick armbar I never saw coming and that was the end of it.

We both fought really hard and I'm not ashamed of this match at all. The second one I probably could have done better but I did give it everything I had. Fun times. Might do again.

Can't believe I forgot to wish you good luck before the match Kev!! arrgghh... got so busy with 'life'... :/
The pictures are intense! Definitely looks like a great learning experience for you and I am sure you'll only get better from here.
You're very devoted to that; you can do it!

I love the pic of you standing and bowing your head btw
