Worship music leaked

No way is Stomp 442better than ATL . I actually love every song off Stomp442 but I don't consider it Thrash or Anthrax at all.

My new moto is - The REAL Anthrax is Joey Belladonna, Dan Lilker, Dan Spitz, Scott Rosenfeld , Charlie Benante.

Yes, boring. And people just like you always say, "but...but it's one of the best thrash metal albums of all time!!!". Bullshit. It was a huge step forward from Spreading the Disease and it had some decent songs on it, but there was absolutely nothing memorable on that album to me. Persistence of Time kills it. SOWN kills it. Take off your nostalgia glasses, trim your mullet, and take your fingers out of your ears.

Dude, I've played in thrash metal bands. I've been listening to thrash metal since I was 11, and State of Euphoria was the first thrash album I got into. That was when it came out, not later. I remember watching the video on MTV in 1989 when I was 11 years old, wondering how the hell they were playing so fast. At the time I was into Motley Crue and Whitesnake and such...then I discovered Anthrax and Metallica. So just because I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon of fellating Among the Living doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about.

Saying SOE is better than ATL =:lol:

Haha yes of course. I dunno, maybe it's because I discovered Anthrax when they came out with SoE. At that point they were already ahead of AtL.

If I wanna listen to something similar to AtL but better I'll listen to SoD's Speak English or Die. I've listened to AtL and have tried to get into it but it's just not an album I would choose over just about any other album from the big four. It's just dull. I don't get all the worship. Sorry.

Everyone who's in love with AtL, tell me something: WHY do you think it's so great?

Duurrrr I just do!

Seriously why the fuck do you care if we like the album and why do you hate it so much? Or how about the songs are 10x better than anything off of Stomp or SOE.

You hold a candle for an album even the band admits wasnt that good.

Just because of Tester and Riding Shotgun. If that album were composed of just those two songs, it'd still be better imo.

Everyone who's in love with AtL, tell me something: WHY do you think it's so great? And you can't say, "Duurrrr I just do!". The songs weren't as good as later albums, the musicianship wasn't nearly as good, the production wasn't that great, the hooks (if there were any) were bland and unmemorable, and it really wasn't that heavy. So please tell me what it is about AtL that has everyone's panties in a bunch whenever I claim it's boring. I've given you my reasons, now let's hear yours. I want explanations and comparisons.

ATL is thrash with great songs, Stomp is a grunge influenced clusterfuck mess that almost wiped Anthrax off the earth.

Speak English & AtL sound nothing alike

Been following them since the beginning and I have to say that when Metal Hammer and other metal mags had add of I'm The Law single....and band got publicity it deserved it was kinda important moment of my youth - you know MY band, the one I like and orthers hate - is famous...then ATL come out and also other kids started to notice that hey there might be something in this band...of course it went ridiculous with SOE - then also girls liked - well at least listened to - Anthrax...:)

That's why I still like ATL very much. And I don't want to put Anthrax albums in any order...if I feel like listening to Volume 8 I put it on and that's it...

Btw. I find WM very similar to SOE - it is also very melodic, easy to access album. SOE is better though...:) :) :) :)

No, they didn't get hardly ANY label support for Stomp because it wasn't grunge enough for them...that's why.

It's good we can talk about this without a gigantic shitstorm, unlike many other forums *AHEM AHEM BILLY MILANO AHEM AHEM*.

I think if I had to nail down one single thing that turns me off of AtL, it would be the song structures and dynamics. Don't get me wrong, it has it's MOMENTS but they're fleeting. They're just not as EPIC as, say, Belly of the Beast. I'd rather listen to this:

IMHO, not a single song on AtL can hold a candle to either Do the Dream or Suit and Tie Guy.

Ok genius, I'll play along.

I never gave ANY OF YOU shit for liking that album. I simply said I don't get it and prefer other albums over it, but people came out of the fucking woodwork to hurl spears at me for having the audacity to think critically. However, since you're gonna be a dick about it, it's people like YOU who gasp and are offended and act so elitist with your incredulity that GOD FORBID SOMEONE DISAGREES WITH YOUR PERSONAL TASTES.

So now I'm going to ask YOU what you just asked me: why the fuck do you care if I DON'T like the album?

I dunno, maybe I don't like it because I listen to much heavier and faster metal than something from 1987 and I've gotten spoiled. However, I still don't think it can stand up to other classic albums like Peace Sells, Rust in Peace, Master of Puppets, or Reign in Blood...all of which are still revered today without reverting to nostalgia, unlike AtL.

Ask yourself if you like AtL because it REALLY IS such a great album or if it's simply nostalgia. If it's nostalgia, THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE. If it's not nostalgia, methinks that you're probably a fanboy who doesn't know very many metal bands after 1993. In the end it's just one person's opinion; can you handle the fact that other people don't think like you?

.

All of this is opinion.

Of course it is. That's why I don't understand why you're so up in arms about this whole thing.

I think it's a safe bet to say that the consensus is Rust in Peace, Peace Sells, and Master of Puppets are fantastic albums and can stand on their own without reverting to nostalgia. It's more of a personal observation than an opinion. Nearly EVERYONE in metal likes old Metallica. Anthrax was more of a niche in thrash; you either liked it or you didn't.

For me, "heaviness" has nothing to do with how distorted your guitars are or palm-muted riffing. It has more to do with the feel of the experience, which is why albums like WCFYA flopped. I just wanted to know exactly what it was about AtL that appealed to so many people, just in order to understand. They've done albums that are in my mind above and beyond AtL, yet so many fans still hail it as their greatest achievement. I want to know why.

It would be a really cool discussion if you guys could give me some insight on that. Just because you can mosh to something doesn't mean it's good.

So is blindly following the herd.

I just realized that I've seen most of those bands in your signature live. Cool. I've seen Kreator and Destruction so many times that I wouldn't even go if someone gave me tickets. Seriously, they play around here so often that they should start sending free tickets with the spam in your mailbox.

I could never really get into German thrash that much...it's much too cold for me. It's fun for a while but then it just gets stale. I think I'm more of an American thrash type of guy.

I don't get it, you're saying that people only like AtL for the nostalgia, and that it's actually not good and not considered a thrash classic. I'm pretty sure most people consider it to be a landmark album in thrash. It has classic songs, great hooks (I still can't figure out why you think the album has no hooks), classic solos, and memorable album art.

Any other album by Anthrax or any other band has no bearing on how good/bad AtL is, that's a terrible argument for justifying why you don't like it.

With this said, PoT is better.

So now I'm going to ask YOU what you just asked me: why the fuck do you care if I DON'T like the album?

Um, you made a bunch of posts whining and complaining about it.

I dunno, maybe I don't like it because I listen to much heavier and faster metal than something from 1987 and I've gotten spoiled.

You do huh? Thats very nice. I suppose you also listen to grunge also since you prefer Stomp to ATL.

Indians or Belly of the Beast?

I Am the Law or Keep it in the Family?

Caught in a Mosh or Finale?

NFL or Burst?

Among the Living or Time?

Imitation of Life or Finale?

One World or This is Not an Exit?

Oooh....

Indians
Law
Mosh
NFL
ATL
Finale
Exit

Tough though, you picked some great songs!!! One World and Imitation of Life are, I agree, overrated and a little boring....

You have to realise there are only really about 15 people that post here regularly, and Thrashard, Anthrax Mosher and IMFan are annoying cunts.

Nice one, did you come up with that all by yourself? Very proud of ya.

All I know is that you come around here twice a month and try to act like you mean something.
