Would you want...

I remember playing a Kramer with a Bartonlini on it that back in like 1989 or something. It had six pan knobs and stereo output. That seemed excessive to me, even in the 80s.

Seems that a Roland synth PU does something more useful for less money.

Gibson = Crash and Burn

I lost all respect for the company once I heard about that stupid BFG guitar and all those hard drives and cd drives they are coming out with.

Yeah my opinion (just to add to the topic) is that the guitar is a $4000 piece of junk, would way rather have a variaxe if I went digital.

That in mind I also heard that some time this year gibson is comming out with a classy looking faded white sg studio, erm or was it special (or was it LP I dunno). All well I dunno. I know it's happening but I forgot the specifics.

They are also comming out with some other guitar that has 3 pikups but again I don't remember the details.

I got a friend who works at the Nashville factory. I actually heard about the digital guitar well over a year ago. Aparently the guy who pretty much is in charge of Gibson has been trying to develope the thing since the late 80's. I guess the first models were to big and cumbersome so he fired the first design team  .

I agree Gibson doesn't seem to be focusing on the right part of the market. They are known for making heavy good sounding instroments and now they seem to be trying to corner the "I am to poor for a real gibson" market. And now with this digital guitar (witch I don't get how it would interface with your computer it runs on an ethernet cable) witch to me is not gonna catch on like they probably think it is.

Yeah, totally what I've thought about them for a long time...
I mean they got these classic Rock designs, ESP/LTD is ripping off and hotrodding them for the heavy scene and getting all the customers. Of course there are let's say more organic sounds you maybe won't get out of the typical EMG 81 on ESPs but Gibson didn't even make one decent Heavy-Model. Just think about the Gothic-Series: Wasn't in stock for too long and didn't even have EMGs or let alone Locking Tuners or Earvana on it...

This one is a dream

but this one surely is heavier, played by a lot more people in the scene and is half the price.

Oh, and one day I'll have a Gibson too... :goggly:

And GuitarGodGT: Concrats on the 666th post!

But then again, did you try putting EMGs and locking tuners into the gibson then comparing with the ESP?

... I certainly haven't, hah, but might be interesting.

Yeah, for sure, I'm convinced a LP Custom with EMGs and Locking Tuners would make one of the heaviest guitars on the market but what I'm saying is that Gibson hasn't done something like that unfortunetally.
Imo they should change their marketing strategy a little and also give something out of their hands too (like pickups, tuners).
The Gothic series could have been cool but in fact it was nothing other than the normal gibsons with an ugly paintjob and a cliche-symbol on the 12th fret...
