I do not like Slayer's new material, but at least they are trying, and at least they are heavy in some sorta nu-ish way. Metallica wrote something that they thought was going back to their roots, and completely didn't get the joke that they wrote. The difference, slayer is still pissed at something.

So what if it's still heavy? It's not good. The end. And what are they pissed off AT? Nothing! They'll just keep writitng silly angry lyrics and palm muting lame tritone riffs untill the end of time just so they can think they're still bad ass, and so the goons who listen to them can think they are too.
