just relentless aggression almost doom death oriented
his vocals are hopeless and strong

The end is some of the best Opeth ever. Kinda like the end of "When". The song is good and kinda grows on you but the end catches your attention right away. I still love hearing the end of both of those songs. A lot of Opeth songs have great parts stuck somewhere in the begining, middle or end. Like the acoustic part in "godheads lament" or the part in "Leper" where it kicks back into the main riff after Mike screams for like ten seconds.

Although not a wine-fan,i understand your point,and i agree. I feel the same way about Dirge For November by the way,a song which made me feel frustrated at first because i used to think that they spoiled the beautiful aocustic parts with the distorted stuff,but now i love the whole song.
