We went through a few "Wreath" riffs in the rehearsal room and everyone's faces was like "yes, yes"!

The whole of Deliverance feels like a madmans murderous confession that was caught on old 1920's vinyl. His (numerous) murders followed by the recognition of what he's done followed by regret then back to crazy man.
It's like if Still Life had a baby with DT's 'Scenes from Memory'.

I'd probably nut in my pants if you guys actually played Wreath live.

The riff that you wrote that plays before and after these vocal lines (don't know the exact time off the top of my head)...

...is pretty much the epitome of evil as far as riffs go.

The one problem I see with this song concerning it being played live is the overlapping vocals at the end of the song. I've recorded this song a few times and I assume you would have to dumb down the vocals a bit otherwise it would be hell on your lungs. I remember seeing on Lamentations that you recorded the 1st and 3rd sections every other line because of the overlapping.

Regardless though, you'd probably make alot of Opeth fan's life worthwhile if you could pull it off.

I realize Mike will probably never read what I just said, but oh well.

It's a great song for sure. Very good album, but still lacks something the other albums have.
Listening to GR conveys colors and feelings of sickness and evil.
Still Life conjures love and despair in my head, and BlackwaterPark surely conveys feelings and colors of bleakness, desolation and loneliness.

For some reason Deliverance gives me no colors or atmosphere. While the other albums really do have an atmosphere throughout the album, Deliverance basically is like sitting in an empty room. Good music, good songwriting, and impressive musicianship, but lacks the feeling and mood of their other work.

That said, the songs on Deliverance are fantastic. And I know solos arent everything, but both Mikes and Peters guitar solos on Wreath have got to be some of their best.

I agree with everything you said here...It sure does kick alot of ass ....Especially those first 2 songs but the feeling is diff..

Yeah, definately. And that's something I really like about the Opeth artworks (since MAYH at least),
they're not only really beautiul, they catch the feeling of the album very well.

Well that's something that's in many Opeth songs. He just shortens up the lines. It sounds great, I don't see why it should be a problem. Seeing the song performed live will be awesome. I really hope they do!
