WREATH

i just listened to wreath all the way through for the first time in a while, and that growling near the end is truly epic..

Is this Mike recording his voice twice and putting them together or something? it just sounds so different and completely evil, i love it.

it was done with a pitch shifter effect iirc. either that or mike did indeed double track it. I'd be more inclined to think it was a pitch shifter, though, since it was SW producing the album.

I watched the Lamentations documentary over the weekend and there they say that the "winds" that come up in the song (around 6:10-6:40) are actually guitars. They used a similar effect in a Damnation song as well. Cool.

Double-tracked, imho.
You can clearly hear that it's made up of 2 layers: one regular deep-growl and on top of that a more black-metal-style scream approach. Blend both together (of course, the phrasing has to be 100% match) and add some EQ with boosted Mids... Voila!

yea I agree, the two voices seem like 2 different types of growls just tracked together.
