well those little boxes are usually a starved plate design, meaning its not really using the tube to create the warmth more just noise, hence why i went up to the next step and got the Art Pro MPA II, which utilises the higher plate voltages.

Haha ... yeah, I know you're right ...

At the moment I only have my Tapco USB-interface with it's built-in mic-preamps. Had to sell my Firepod after getting a new macbook without Firewire :/
