Has anyone here put 2 Celestion V30's in a Krank Revolution Cab in the x-pattern configuration? Can anyone see any problems in doing this?

Thanks for the response Farside.
Mixing these speakers would give some me more options for micing/recording, although reading all the threads and listening to the samples here, I am getting swayed towards the Traditional Mesa Cab with the Revolution Head. I have tried the Rev with the Rev cab, but not the Mesa cab. The store I go to has the Standard (oversized) cab in straight, but the only "traditional" they have in stock is an angled. I am not exactly sure what difference the angled cab would make compared to the straight cab. Better/Worse???
I guess I have to try it.
Any opinions would be appreciated.

No difference between angled and straight except for... the angled thing. They're both perfactly fine for recording and live. Not better or worse.

The only difference would be rehearshing rather than recording or something, for that matter, that sticks a mic in front of it.
As an angled cab is gonna push the sound more to your ears than straight ones, you'll be thinking the cab has more highend than other cab in the world ( it happened to me, I had a 1960A and thought it was horrid, now sum that cab with a DSL100 and you have the fizz wall of sound I had for some time

Sounds nearly the same live, but recording is a whole nother world!

Not the Krank, but i have 2 vintage series Jensen's and 2 modern series Jensen's in my marshall cab... When i drive it with my Triaxis/2:90 it sounds like god

my splawn, and marshall cabs have an eminence governer/manowar x pattern and i really love the sound for live use
straight cabs in my experience tend to sound a little warmer, and more full than their angled counterparts (having owned a straight and slant 1960 cab before)
but angled cabs let you hear yourself a little better, and can give you better clarity (which is good for some amps if you use a lot of gain)
personally, i like both...i usually run this here, but the cobra into both cabs...but when i only run one cab, it's always the straight (i don't usually run the two together, because the switching for cleans etc. is too complicated...but the cobra and 5150 in stereo sounds like world war 3!!)

I had a Bogner Uberkab with 2 V30's and 2 G12T75's in an X pattern. It sounded killer in person, but for recording, the V30's just didn't sound right. The other speakers were fucking with them. I got rid of that cab and got a Bogner 412 with all V30's and it sounds so much better for recording, and also sounds killer in person. It doesn't get any better than Bogner cabs IMO.

....mmmm ... Could you explain what was wrong when recording? ... I have my old 1960-lead with the x-pattern thingie and I'm not 100% happy with the way the V30's sound. For live and reh. it kicks, but when recording, I don't seem to get all the good things from V30's that make people to rave about them.

Well, sounds like what happens to me ... I guess I'll try changing the pattern from X to L/R, so when I want to record the V30's, I just should set the cab to stereo and connect only the V30 side, so the G12t75 don't mess with the Vintages. Will it work? ..... any thoughts about it?

having the cab in the x pattern definitely makes recording more difficult, a lot of it has to do with the fact that when you're only miking one speaker you're gonna hear a very different sound in the room than the mic is picking up
for example, with a v30/gt75 x pattern if you're miking the v30; you're likely to find yourself wanting more highs and less mids to get a good recorded sound than you'd wanna hear in the room...because the mic isn't picking up the added highs, and lack of mids from the gt75
then you add the fact that the gt75 will effect the recorded tone of the v30, even when only the v30 is miked, and how the mic colors the tone further...it can lead to some real headache sometime
on the other hand tho, you can get a really unique tone...and you've got more options open to you as well with the x pattern

what is an x pattern?
i'm surmising it has to do with placements of speakers in a 4x12? or is there more than one cab involved?
