Yearlist 2004 (sofar)

Seems like many people here didn't hear much new releases. 2004 is/was a very good year, me thinks!

Well, I only listed two because there are only two that are contending for album of the year. Other honorable mentions would include:

Jon Oliva's Pain - Tage Mahal
Astral Doors - Of the Son and the Father
Wuthering Heights - Far From a Maddening Crowd
Therion - Lemuria/SiriusB
Evergrey - The Inner Circle

Hmmm, still not a long list, but my tastes are quite picky and I'm only listing albums that I've listened to ALOT this year...those that stand out above the rest.

Ahaaa- US of A. Somehow I thought you were dutch.

Likewise where the "short"list is concerned - I used to buy a lot of stuff, but this year I traveled so much that there wasn't too much of a budget left too buy a lot of albums.

My list of travels:

Epica ( a dutch band, for those not in the know) in Londen
M'era Luna festival in Germany
Rock the Nations festival in Istanbul
Graspop metalmeeting in Belgium
Orphaned Land in Israel 2x
Epica in Paris

Not to mention loads of concerts in Holland as well and seeing the above mentioned there is no question as to where my money went this past year- instead of buying cd's or DVD's.

And I have now been set on the trail of a band called Symphony X by Eden. This stuff is just amazing! I have no idea why I did not find out about this band before.

Hey Morticia, my great-great grandfather was Dutch. Does that count? I'm half dutch, half norweigan, in ancestry. I look the part too! NO COLOR.

Sounds like you had a very entertaining year traveling the world and seeing metal shows. Must be nice! Especially Orphaned Land, not once, but TWICE! I've been talking with Yossi in email lately and he said they wouldn't be touring the States anytime soon. Closest they come to me is South America. I am so jealous of you!

great-great grandfather > counts as far as I am concerned. (-;
Yes, I had a great year and the best thing was ot seeing OL perform, but meeting them and becoming friends. They are some of the warmest people I have ever met.

Damn shame they are not touring the US. Well, you will just have to visit them somewhere else. Come to Europe and see them- if you can afford it. But I imagine with the dollar these days Europe is very very expensive.

I am up for another year of "metaling all over the world" as I call it. I will do this as long as I have money in the bank and the time to travel. It is just great to go and see bands, places and meet people in this way.

I can say that there is only one negative side to all this>I am so bored with the dutch scene right now.

Yeah, traveling to distant lands is a little too far outside my financial means at this time. Maybe when I hit the best-seller list with my books! I have only spoken with Yossi (in email), but from what he says of his bandmates, they are great people.

Since you are going to travel again this year, I'll just live vicariously through you.

Have fun Morticia! (like I need to tell you to do that!)
