I was pressured into this by some guy on Facebook but it's not incredibly accurate...

4. "( )" - Sigur Rós
5. "In Absentia" - Porcupine Tree
6. "The Sham Mirrors" - Arcturus
7. "Choirs of the Eye" - Kayo Dot
8. "In the Court of the Crimson King" - King Crimson
9. "Panopticon" - Isis
10. "The Great Cold Distance" - Katatonia

Kush, things have changed indeed when a signed up and devoted Emperor/Opeth fanatic can't get one of their albums in his list! :loco:

Off the top of my head I think these would be the most sonically and emotionally intense albums for me:

1. Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse
2. Opeth - Morningrise
3. Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
4. Isis - Oceanic
5. Jesu - Conqueror
6. Agalloch - The Mantle
7. Suffocation - Pierced from Within
8. Neurosis - Times of Grace
9. Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness
10. Enslaved - Below the Lights (this is a tough call between BtL, Darkthrone's Under a Funeral Moon and Death's Symbolic)

Something like this...

01 Satyricon - Dark Medieval Times (the only album that stays there)
02 Satyricon - Nemesis Divina
03 Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
04 Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble of Shadows - Songs from the Inverted Womb
05 Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane
06 Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness
07 Borknagar - The Archaic Course
08 Arcturus - Sideshow Symphonies
09 Unexpect - In a Flesh Aquarium
10 Taake - Hordalands Doedskvad

One's that missed out today but could re-enter the charts tomorrow...
Shining - V - Halmstad
Evereve - Seasons
Malice Mizer - Merveilles
Virgin Black - Elegant...and Dying
Dismal Euphony - Autumn Leaves
Covenant - Northern Light
Samael - Eternal
The Kovenant - Nexus Polaris
Ulver - Nattens Madrigal

Hoorah, someone who has an idea on visual kei... and yes it requires a lot of sifting. I think Malice Mizer were the most well known, shame they disbanded although Mana went and formed Moi Dix Mois, sort of a goth speed metal sort of thing and Gackt is like some sort of pop god over in Japan. Dir En Grey seem to be getting a lot of recognition within the international market...

This is tough, but here goes (no particular order):

Agalloch - The Mantle
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Pink Floyd - Meddle
Ulver - Shadows of the Sun
Enslaved - Ruun
Novembers Doom - The Pale Haunt Departure
Drudkh - Blood In Our Wells
Biosphere - Substrata
Rush - Moving Pictures
Scorpions - Blackout

I know I'm missing something...
