You know, a few people have put here "Black Sabbath up through Born Again," and that does my poor hear good. People used to really shyte on Born Again, and I think it's fucking great; always have. That run, first album up through Never Say Die....THEN the Dio stuff...THEN Born Again, I mean, it's just plain one of the most consistent sequences of albums ever. I know there is no shortage of Sabbath fans, but it's nice that some recognize that the "classics" didn't really end until after Born Again. Gillan is a God on that, and the title track is worth the price alone.

That is very true.....I might be only 17.....but I listened to Sabbath as a Fetus...from i was born until now...and they've always been my favorite band....they were the first actual band i had tapes by when I was 8 yrs. old lol.

I agree 100%. Gillen f*cking rules....a voice made for metal! And, as you've said, the title track is amazing. Easily one of Sab's best tunes.

BA was one of my 1st Sabb records....oved it then, love it today.

Absolutely, Born Again may have been completely different from the previous BS albums, but the songwriting was kick ass and it was a perfect forum for Gillian to push his pipes to the limit. Personally I think it's Gillan's best vocal performance ever, and that's saying something! Seventh Star was pretty good too, but that was the first album where the songwriting dropped down a notch (I think one of the main reasons I still like Seventh Star is simply because of Glenn Hughes). After Eternal Idol, I continued to buy BS albums, but I seldom ever listened to them, and still don't to this day. It's not that they are bad, I like them when I do dust them off, but they just lacked the magic of the 15 years leading up.

Yeah, I got it the day of release. I was a Fates fan back in the day, and had heard the MP3 for Relentless on the Net. I keep crossing my fingers that he'll make a whole album. I'm sure you do too. I don't know a lot of people who bought it, but those who did (and those I forced it on) agreed that it was amazing, which it was (and is). Ha. It is, simply put, goosebumps from the first note to the last. Seriously, I say it stands up there with any list of all-time metal classics. And I would even go so far as to say it eclipses the records he made with Fates Warning, good as they were. I chose it as my "record of the year," last year....and it was only an EP!
John fucking Arch!

No real point to this post, I realize, just singing the man's praises.
I bought it then everybody else I know .. Who likes metal that is .... which is all of 3 other ppl .. bought it too that includes my own mother :D "Twist of Fate" is Incredible and I can only hope this isnt the last we hear from Mr. Arch!

also glad to see folks mentioning Overkill's "Years of Decay", which is, IMO, easily their best, and one of THE BEST thrash records ever released - including the works of Slayer, Megadeth & Metallica. "Years" has more depth & emotion, power & energy than almost anything out there.

Gustafson ruled.
I was Just listening to this album the other night ...Bobby Gustafson has got to be one of the most absolute criminally underated guitar players ever his work on "Decay" is Fanfuckingtastic!!!!! and there isnt a Bad song on the whole record ... Who Tends the Fire Motherfuckers!!!!!!:headbang: :D

BA was my first Sabbath record too. I was only thirteen years old, but I loved it. Over the next couple of years I went back and bought everything else. Then of course the CDs when they came out....and just recently I traded in all the old CDs with Ozzy for the Boxset, just to fucking have it.

I do wish they'd have made another album with Gillan though. Incidentally, I have a couple bootlegs of him singing live; doing stuff like Children of the Grave, and they are awesome.

John Arch also belongs on my list. I thought I had put him when I made it but I see I left him out. Great vocalist that is completely unique, which makes those old FATES WARNING albums the best ever.

Zero Hour played at Prog Power III. I went to II, IV and V and unfortunately had to miss III. Cool band though. You are going to have a blast at PPVI !!
