Alice In Chains are contenders for my favorite band ever so they obviously get my vote. I honestly can't think of one bad song they've made.

I never really understood the Nirvana hate tbh. Yeah they're overrated as a grunge band but they have some damn good songs.

Also Alice in Chains. I was raised on that band. One of my absolute favorites ever. Not only was Layne's voice amazing, but his lyrics are absolutely fantastic. Especially on the s/t album. Which may be my favorite AiC album. I seriously know every lyric and every guitar riff from every song haha.

So Opeth's Would? cover was released.

I'd have to say Cornell is my favorite vocalist but it have to be a tie between the guitar styles between Soundgarden and AIC.Although AIC has shown more creativity for the acoustic stuff.

Jerry wrote most of the lyrics. Layne had a hand in pretty much everything they did, but Jerry was the most creative of the band.

Check out Jerry's solo albums! They're pretty damn good.

But Layne's lyrics were better. Look how much deeper, darker, and intense the lyrics are in the s/t. Cuz Layne wrote 9/12 of them. And I've heard Jerry's solo stuff. It's meh. He was very creative and definitely aided in there dark sound, but without Layne's vocals it's not as impressive imo.

I'm not totally disregarding Jerry's abilities and importance though. And he did write most of the lyrics at first. Then Layne put more into the lyrics. The "dog" album is often referred to as "Tripod" for future reference. Lol. That makes me laugh.

You think Dirt was darker? It definitely had some brooding songs like 'Rain When I Die', 'Dirt', and 'Junkhead', but I always got a darker feel from Tripod. 'Grind', 'Head Creeps', 'Frogs', 'Shame In You'... guess it's a perspective thing though. Tripod always hit closer to home for me.

I've heard it called both Tripod and the Dog album. I heard it called the Dog album first so I'm going to roll with that and you can suck a nut :)

Dirt hit closer for me. I think you're right about a perspective thing. But Hate to Feel, Angry Chair... the Dog album was more subtle and slow and brooding, the Dirt album was more tear-your-soul-down dark. Very hard to compare the two though, since they're so different.

I'll pass on nut sucking tonight. My tummy hurts. (ah gay!) Lol. I may call it the dog album once and a while now though. It makes me giggle a little.

I totally agree with you. They're both dark in there own way. Both are amazing, but impossible to compare. Either way, you're gonna feel a little worse about life when it's over haha.

Being form Seattle, I think Seattle has the best grunge ever. AIC all the way, Layne Staley, my favorite singer... RIP
