Both. Thats why I listed Tony Iommi also.

Both he and Mustaine wrote some incredible riffs, that's for sure. It's always great to see people list their favorite riff writers, too - almost everyone is concerned mostly with lead playing. Don't get me wrong - a bad solo can sour a song - but if you don't have good riffs, you don't have a song.

What I love about these lists is you learn about so many new guitarists that you've never heard of. Like Carl Verheyen. What a shredder. Great tone too.

I don't know if i can give 10 names that really influence my Guitar Playing. But of course i can name my 10 favorite guitar players.

In no particular order, unless the first and second that influence me

1 - David Gilmour - Pink Floyd - I start playing guitar cause Floyd are my favorite band and i had to know how to play Wish You Were Here, so that song was the first song i learned!!!

2 - John Petrucci - Dream Theater - Possibly the best Metal Guitar Player. He can play fast and in th same song write a sentimental solo. The best song to see this 2 ways to play metal guitar is Best of Times

Now without order

Mikael Akerfeldt ( Opeth / Bloodbath )
Nuno Bettencourt ( Portuguese Guy!!!!! ) ( Extreme )
James Hetfield ( Metallica )
Tom Morello ( Rage Against The Machine )
Dave Murray ( Iron Maiden )
Yngie Malmesteen
Robb Flinn ( Machine Head )
Jack Black ( Tenacious D )

Paul Wardingham (currently can't get enough of this guy, has just put out an album called "Assimilate Regenerate")

Just got that album, amazed is an understatement. :yow:

My list:

John Petrucci
Yngwie Malmsteen

Michael Romeo
Jeff Loomis
Alexi Laiho
Paul Wardingham
Paco De Lucia
