I don't like any rap band/artist, less for a few songs here and there and most are just for comedic value, but I do like some of Rage Against the Machine. They were cool. If I had to name a pure rap band, I can tolerate it would be RunDMC. They were the first to put the heavy guitars in with the rap, so it was new at the time and interesting.

Most of you guys like 80s metal and 80s rap. While that's all cool, I think you really need to start accepting that newer music can be good as well. Time to retire your 80s and early 90s rap albums and get some of the newer better stuff like anything Dan the Automator has done (Dr Octagon (which is admittedly early 90s, but kiss my ass), Deltron 3030, Lovage (with Mike Patton!!!), Handsome Boy Modelling School, etc...) or Dalek or even any of those underground hip hop artists like Sage Francis, Cannibal Ox, Aesop Rock, etc...

Yes, Deltron 3030 is good. Although, I think it falls under the hip-hop category rather than rap. I've also heard a lot of good things about Dr. Octagon too. I'll have to check them out. Lately though, I've been loving Atmosphere. They are an awesome hip-hop group from Minneapolis, Minnesota, so check them out.

Also, Dr Octagon is kind of similar to Deltron 3030, but I like Kool Keith more than Del the Funkee Homosapien, so I like Dr O a little more.

LOVAGE bores me to death....i am tired of the whole lounge/cocktail affair...
i listen to esquivel or les baxter 10 years ago and everyone says me that this is shit...now they all listen to fake exotica in that plastic cafes....

anyway i think the underground have a moltitude of great artists in rap...personally i really like the ANTI POP CONSORTIUM crew....

anyway i really like the "fast" tracks of MISSY ELLIOTT ,the slowest are really terrible...i can't stand r'n'b...

we discussed about closeminded metal-fans in other threads. to say it in Ice-T's words "i feel sorry for anybody who listens only to one form of music."

Yeah, 'cause you're cool if you listen to a special kind of music. You're cool if you listen to that lounge shit, whatever it really is. John Barry has been labeled lounge and so has Lee Hazlewood (and they sound nothing like each other). To me it just seems that some people find all these old records 'cause everybody making music today is ripping those records off. Then people stars making records that are basically just a cheap copy of stuff people did in the 60's, people it, sits in a café, think they're really sensitive, act snobbish, then throw out all that lounge shit when it's not cool to listen to shit anymore. Just like trip hop was the thing for the young upperclass a couple of years ago. Now it's naked music, lounge and soft house.

I like some rapcore/metal groups more than the pure rap groups. Yeah, I guess everyone knows rapcore is so cliche but some of them I like.
