John Petrucci- Under a Glass Moon, come on, astounding phrasing.

Alex Lifeson- I was listening to Rush today and just remembered how insane he really is.

Loomis- Everything/No explanation required.

Marty Friedman- Very tasteful, yet remains flashy.

Randy Rhoads- No words here either, he wrote so many amazing guitar leads AND riffs its astounding. Fuck crazy train, Mr. Crowley is where its at. :headbang:

ACK, I told myself I wouldn't criticize anyone's choices cuz it's all opinion, but LIFESON?!?!? I love his chords/riffs, but jesus do I hate his soloing - so spastic, with what I call the "angry bee vibrato" (really fast buzzing with practically no control); I love Rush, but OY...

Sorry, had to get that out of my system - it's all opinion of course, and everyone is entitled to theirs, and if you get a positive emotional response from his playing that's all that matters of course!

I like the solo from Limelight, what can I say. YYZ ain't bad either.

BTW, what's your screename on AIM, Marcus?

Th Crowley solo, is cool, but is to generic, it doesn`t beat the crazy train solo (the live version, not the album version) come on listen it, no, Feel it! he owned himself, he made the guitar part of his own, in fact all the performance of the song is full of beauty, i think if even if he were missed a note, still should sound good, ha.

a big + to Eddie Van Halen and David Gilmour, the first solo on Comfortably numb, and the solo from Time, no words.

Haha, well I've liked what I've heard of the Windsor well enough! (though "owns" is another story ;)) And Greg, I'm actually not on AIM, but I am on MSN if you are! (there's a link under my post count)

Marty Friedman and Chuck Schuldiner, probably my biggest two influences. Love some of Peter Wichers stuff too.

But Dimebag, Petrucci, Romeo, Skolnick and Per Nilsson also rule.
