that's pretty much everything as far as i can remember (though i edited this post 6 times already :) )

My Favorite solo of all time is Randy Rhoads solo in the Tribute live version of Crazy Train, i feel goosebumps just to hear ir, not complicated or fancy, but sounds as a solo need to sound and it don`t need anything as backing just the bass and the drums, the solo itself fulllfil that part of the song, Thats a solo.

the guitar on that song sounds better on that live version than on the album. I like the single guitar (I'm guessing it's just Randy) rather than the overdubbed version from the album.

Totally forgot. The best lead/solo on earth can be found in one song by one band. Tool- Sober.

Right at 3:58. That shit kicks ass :kickass:

I'm serious.

Why lol ?

Don't listen to these jokers, "Time to Shine" is a GREAT album!

Also Marcus, you might bs surprised to see how gigantic the hardcore scene is in Europe. But you hate hardcore, so this will probably fall on deaf ears.

djabthrash: Did you ever hear the Redline split with Born From Pain?? Too bad they toured Europe before I was in the band.

very under rated but he's one of my favs Andy LaRocque great solos with feeling:headbang:

I was about to be ashamed that knowone mentioned Andy LaRocque. He is definetly one of my favorite lead players.
Trey from Morbid Angel is in a world of his own.
Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman made Rust in Piece the most shred tastic album ever and the solos are just INSANE!!!!!.

Also you must check out Fernan Nebiros and Wilber Rosan of the Peruvian Band Mortem.
They do some really good dive bombs and insane solo's. They have done some of the best tremolo stuff I have ever heard.

Gene Palubicki from Angelcorpse is also an insanely good soloist.

As to the original question...

My favorite soloists:

-Jimmy Page
-Jimi Hendrix
-Chuck Schuldiner
-Stevie Ray Vaughan

There are probably more, that is it for now.

Oh and Nando from Irate is a GREAT player! Very tasty lead work indeed.

Hahahahahaha, +1, I love the idea of a Frenchman listening to all these awful NYHC unemployment-anthems

"awful NYHC unemployment-anthems"

retarded IMO (as much as saying "awful NYDM serial-killer anthems" or something), and there's some other guys that dig that kind of bands on this forum as well

ETC has released 4 albums, they're all pretty different, and they all sound awesome to me.

How well do you (Metaltastic & Chryst Krispies) know this band ?

Seems like an over-generalization on their part djabthrash. I don't understand why we all cannot just hold our personal opinions without being insulted or made fun of. Even though I think Marcus was being playful, it can come off as not nice. I thought many on this board were open minded folk. If someone doesn't like something in particular, fine...but no need to stereotype bands just because they aren't your cup of tea.

(Sorry in advance for the off-thread guys)

I love Time To Shine (but i think the following albums are awesome as well), and when i listened to the Redline/BFP split a long time ago, i remember hearing an ETC Time To Shine influence on it.

Must be a NJ thing...:)

I remember when E-Town played their "last show" (one of many here in NJ)...totally sold out. They came out the The Doors "The End" and it was awesome.

Thanks but it's no biggie seriously...

Actually I think they could dig some stuff from those bands actually, like the lead work on the IRATE albums for instance. And the "unemployment-anthem" thingie sounded playful :) i could write something like "leatherpants riding the dragon gayness" tomorrow also :)

Yeah that is a definite...he's a ridiculous player. Funny story about them. In August of 2001 I saw them and a few other local bands play a BOAT show lol. It was a mid-day tour around Manhattan. Irate never rocked so hard. It was called the "Hardcore booze Cruise..." The boat went by the WTC that would be gone in a matter of weeks. Crazy to look back and watch the video of the show...

Let me just say, I don't try to be overly snippy on these boards, but it just seemed that you got poked fun of for listening to E-Town. It could also be that hardcore are my roots along with metal. :)

Marcus, I know you are a cool cat so I'm not pissed off in a "GOD DAMNIT HOW DAAAAAARE YOU INSULT NYHC!????" kind of way lol. just saying, different strokes for different folks. That and it's ALMOST time to get out of work that I'm antsy and annoyed right now lol.

Peace offering: \m/

I said ZERO about NYHC I love HC when done right. I saw this band at Ozzfest way back when and it just seemed like an amateur Boston HC band. Maybe they are good I don't know, I'm not in agreement with Tastic here other than that I don't remember them possessing a nasty guitar player.
