or keyboard. Or drumset. Or harmonica. Or accordian. Or whatever you play. What was the first one you owned, how did you get it, and what inspired you to get it?
Mine was a squier strat that I got for my fifteenth birthday. I had been playing guitar for a year until that point and my dad had decided it was time to get me something I might enjoy more than an old acoustic guitar that sounded like garbage.

my first instrument: bundy flute
first bass: a version of the Yamaha-RBX170 minus the j pickup
first guitar: esp m-107

I got some shitty acoustic. I don't remember anything about it! The first electric of mine was that little squire starter set that came with an amp. Hah, it took me three months to realize that amp had a distortion setting!

My first guitar was a hot pink BC Rich Warlock that my brother and I bought from eBay around my junior year of high school. My first bass was a black Warlock that I also bought from eBay during my freshman year of college. My first keyboard was a Casio CTK something that my parents gave me for Christmas sometime in high school. My first erhu came from eBay earlier this year and HEGEZHENG is the only English thing on the sticker on the bottom, so I'm guessing that's the brand.

It was a black BC Rich Warlock with a decaying, plastic bridge setup that I got from a pawn shop. When I tried to change the strings, the plastic broke, so I had it traded for something else from the shop. I don't have any clue what it was, it had no name anywhere, and it was $89.99. This is the only picture I have with it, when I was 12, looking metal as crap. My Iceman, which is my favorite guitar ever, my first one which I got a year later is the one sitting on the chair in the room.

Do you know anything about the 7 string warlock and if it's decent or not?

Another Warlock here. Got it when I was about 14. Mine was $450 and I borrowed the money from my parents. It took a whole lot of car washing, lawn mowing and house cleaning to pay off. I fucking loved that bass and I wish I still had it. I also used it to play in the school orchestra which I can imagine looked rather funny.

Here's a pic of it and my friends ironbird:

Started on trombone actually.
First guitar: Ibanez GAX70. Wish I still had it. It was a fun little guitar. My last guitar broke. God damn it.
First and only drumset: Peavey. Horrible set, my drummer uses it now, and I abused the fuck out of it when I played. But it works.

My first guitar was a cheap Fender Telecaster imitation that my stepfather picked up at a swap meet for $32, new. I played it in normal tuning with .013 gauge strings. That guitar lasted me through the first 3 years of high school and is the reason I can bend strings up a Major 3rd. Eventually, the electronics crapped out. I don't remember what I did with it after that...probably sold it to a friend or something. It's the reason why I don't like the sound of single coil pickups that much.

Some strat knockoff. It's crap. Lent it to a friend a while back and he hasn't given it back. I want to paint it, modify the fuck out of it (maybe scallop the frets or make it fretless, though obviously not both) and another friend was gonna paint it or carve it or something till it looked epic and then because it's got a name no one would recognize people would think I was cool with it.
Anyhow, it was total crap. My first real guitar was an Ibanez RG. Loved that. Still have it, play it sometimes.

hahaha...dont start me laughing

my first guitar was this shit house acouistic guitar (dont ask why i got acouistic...i was aiming for electric)

i got it on my own...and my parents ddnt know about it...coz they wouldnt get me one...and its was all i could afford...heck. something was better than nothing!

If you want something that's easy, get a cheap copy of a Gibson, like an Epiphone. Something that's harder to play but teaches you more and brings out your skill would be a Fender. Squier makes cheaper versions of the Fender Stratocaster, that's what I've got and it's my first. They're less than $200 Australian, and I got a starter pack for only $360 Aus, plus $20 for a basic tuner. I haven't had it for too long so I'm not sure how long it'll last, but the main things that go are the strings, pickups and frets, strings perish on all guitars, but pickups and frets are mostly because of heavy use. You can replace these all easily. The only problem i have is that is doesnt hold its tuning perfectly but its ok, good beginner.

Here she be, you may recognize it from another thread here...

No, it's not a dean as the box in the picture implies, that's the box from my current axe.
