Hahhaha!!!! You're the only one on here that's my age, J-Man!!! I got NO idea, because I started in the mid-60s!! The original Byrds were my first show, and also saw Hendrix (3 times), as well as the Doors (first tour) and many you have on here. It's cool being around when they said rock music was just a fad!!

Only reason I went is because I got to use the corporate suite for this show.
It was awesome, since I got to go behind VERY heavy glass to avoid hearing BLEEDING THROUGH!

SLAYER played a great setlist actually, but the Aragon will always be their true home in Chicago. Reason why I am not even considering the UIC show.

As you know, I've never been to the Aragon. I loved them the time I saw them though, but the main reason I AM going to the UIC show is more for Megadeth than Slayer since I have never seen them live before.

I saw Slayer one time in the middle of the summer in a club with a broken A/C. It was so hot, I could not breathe. It had to be 100+ degrees in there. I had to keep ducking outside just to get some fresh air.

I recall the acoustics being horrid at DotG; I hope that bootleg is from the soundboard, for your sake.

1999: finished grad school
2000: first child born
That pretty much covers it. Haven't kept up with music much since 99, with a few exceptions. (I'm a completeist for bands I like, so I've kept up with new releases from bands and band members I was into in the 90s, e.g. FW -> Engine, Redemption.) Just starting to seek out new sounds; latest obsessions are Orphaned Land and DSO.

If you look at my list, you will see that the # of shows I go to now pales in comparison to former years.
Primary reason for me is children as well.

TBH - I haven't heard that bootleg in years, but I think it was pretty raw.

Cool you have been to Kingston Mines.. I used to live off of Halsted, but much further north, @ Waveland.

Well, even after trying to remember all shows since this thread started I am now ready to give up. However, I can name a few very special and memorable gig I've seen along the way.

Mercyful Fate / Uriah Heep in Copenhagen in the early eighties. Mercyful Fate had just released the "Nuns Have no Fun" EP and they absolutely slayed. Have been a fan ever since.

Samson at The Marquee Club in London. This was Samson's last gig ever and what a performance.... Absolutely incredible.

Saga at Tivoli in Copenhagen. This was the show that became the "In Transit" live album. Very, very good show.

Slade headlining Reading Rock in ( I think ) -81. Never experienced such a crowd participation before or after.

Marillion at Wembley on the Clutching tour. The gig itself was not one of the better Marillion shows I've seen ( I have seen them 39 times), but Bruce Dickinson came on and did 3 songs. Cool

Bad News at The Marquee. Both Brian May and Jeff Beck came on and played a few songs in front of maybe 200 people.

Soft White Underbelly playing at a pub in London the day before Donington. Only a few of us knew that S.W.U actually was Blue Oyster Cult and I think we were 35 people there. The next day B.O.C played Donington in front of maybe 50,000 people.

Ozzy opening for Whitesnake in Copenhagen. Randy Rhoads... Need I say more? What year it was? Maybe Claus can help.

Mustasch @ ProgPower. Fantastic to see a band I've followed from the start get such a warm welcome on their first gig on U.S soil.

Pretty Maids / Black Sabbath in Copenhagen. Sabbath with Ian Gillan. I was a huge fan of "Born Again" and still am. P.M blew me away as well. What a band.

Motörhead with Brian Robertson in Lund, Sweden. Not the best of shows but it was hilarious to hear Lemmy apologize to the crowd for his guitarist being hammered. Priceless.

Meshuggah opening for Motörhead in Tampa, Florida. My first experience with Meshuggah and I was truly blown away. Instant fan.

Marillion @ Park West, Chicago. First time seeing Marillion in the U.S and I was amazed how well the U.S fans responded and knew the band. Very impressed by the Chicago crowd.

Hawkwind / Ozric Tentacles at The Hammersmith Odeon, London. It was a anti-heroin concert and Dave Brock in Hawkwind was walking around the crowd handing out joints from a large basket. Laughed my ass off (and it wasn't the weed)...

Accept at the Scandinavium Hockey Arena in Gothenburg on the "Balls to the Walls" tour. The place was absolutely packed to the doors. Amazing to turn around and seeing 12,000 metal heads banging to "I'm A Rebel. A special moment indeed.

Magnum @ The NEC in Birmingham on "The Eleventh Hour" Tour. First time I saw Magnum. Incredible.... I still remember the goosebumps when Catley did Soldier of the Line.

Hawkwind / Ozric Tentacles at The Hammersmith Odeon, London.

It was a anti-heroin concert and Dave Brock in Hawkwind was walking around the crowd handing out joints from a large basket. Laughed my ass off (and it wasn't the weed)...

Now THAT's pretty damned funny. And totally Dave-like.

Yes, the Sabbath with Gillan is definitely impressive!!!!

TBH - I am not even sure I have ever seen or heard a boot with Gillan fronting Sabbath.

What were their setlists like? Did they do both Ozzy and Dio era stuff too?

Memories are vague to say the least. It was a looong time ago and I am sure there were a few Tuborg's involved. However, to the best of my recollection they only played Ozzy era and stuff from Born Again. I do remember one thing though that was quite peculiar. One of the encores was Smoke on the Water... I found it disturbing at the time but now in retrospect it was pretty cool.

I also remember that there were a large Hell's Angels presence at the show and walking back to the train station was a bit iffy.
