Your Song Covers

Well this is a somewhat significant post for this thread, since this is not 1, not 2, but 7 covers all at once.

My band Sleepwalkers is releasing a cover song EP today, it's mostly Doom metal but has a few different flavours of metal in there. You guys have heard a couple tracks already but now we have remastered those and added several more songs. Also it's free, which is awesome. So even if you think Doom metal is for assholes, you should still download it \m/.

I think my favourite is either Thousand years of oppression or Runes to my Memory. But either would have been a bigger undertaking and I wanted to bang it out in one quick session.

I've wanted to do a forum style song/cover for a while now but never really made much of a push on the idea. I mentioned it to Stefan waay back but never really followed up with him. Pat115 said he was down for it but that's about as far as it got. I tried to get grievor in on drums but he said he wasn't up to it, I guess he is more comfortable in a simpler setup. I would have liked to get a bunch of people involved, at least for vocals since you can juggle vocal duties easily. It's probably impractical to get a bunch of people from all over on the same page though.

Plus I'm already stressing myself out over the projects I'm SUPPOSED to be working on instead of doing random ass covers. :lol:
 
I don't think there are any Gojira fans here, but fuck it. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and do something different that might not be on par with my usual stuff. Some shouty vocals, some cleans, and a couple traditional growls in there too. Also I don't know a damn thing about video, I just taped my phone to a surface and recorded video as I did my main vocal take.

I don't know if I'll make this public but I'll still post it here as unlisted. I'm hijacking this fekkin thread, someone else should do some covers noa!

Arigatou gozaimasu, Belac-kun, but I havent growled in a long time again :( I loved raping my throat, but not only I got lazy nowadays and setting up shit would be excruciating task, I don't really know what I would cover.

Perhaps if I can find some good instrumental cover of Bloodbath songs (besides Eaten and Breeding Death which I already done) I might do something. Shouting and satan could relief some stress :3

Awesome. I love your high vocals, I keep trying to doing them that smooth (consistently) but sometimes I fuck my throat up and then I can't do low vocals anymore. So I have to like... choose between doing high screams or not. Or save the screams for the end of a recording session.

It's fine with black metal type screams where it's still kind of gutteral at the back of the voice, I can do that all day, but those super smooth screams you do fucking kill me.
 
Thanks Caleb :D I think my voice was always more naturally suited for the higher stuff, I definitely save more air when I hit mid and high range. Live they tend to fuck me up though, since the adrenaline makes me fuck my throat and/or sound like a Lemmy unless it's a really good night
 
Now that you also look like Lemmy that shouldn't be a concern :kickass:
