OK here's a thread for the weekend.

You've each won $1m (in US currency) - not much in this day and age. So what do you spend it on?

Saving it, or putting it into stocks or a pension is not allowed.

Liquor and whores.

Actually I would quit my job and buy a ranch in some state that isn't California, and spend the rest of my days reading books, recording music, and writing.

pay off any debt (house, cars, credit cards, school loans)

then take a long ass vacation to various places me and my girlfriend have wanted to visit.

(and then buy the rare-as-fuck CDs Ive been looking for)

I'd buy beer.

And studio equipment. Then I'd buy a house in the middle of the forest and build me a home studio and then I'd do nothing buy sleep and write music.

pay off debts >> get house on the west coast >> get house on Europe >> then travel back and forth until I am sick of it >> get Negura Bunget to play Lamours in Brooklyn :)

- Pay off all debts
- Buy a large house (I'd stay in Michigan)
- Pay off all my parents' debts and buy them an RV or something like that
- Open up the best metal record store you've ever seen

Buy myself a luxury apartment, buy everything on my want list (CDs, movies, video games, etc.), book myself on annual vacations to everywhere I've dreamed of seeing, and divide anything remaining among my family...disproportionately of course. Wouldn't matter as there would probably only be $5000 minimum left. :)

Get off unemployment (job hunting just sucks right now)! :)

The typical, pay off house and some bills so there goes about $275K (California is expensive)

I would take the rest and start my own record label and studio...take a much needed vacation to Spain...buy my daughter a horse, buy my son a huge ass comic book collection (to go along with mine), buy more CD's and DVD's...oh yeah and the rest I am sure my wife would find good use for! :)

Cheers, Tony

I'd buy a reasonable house or villa (near a beach) in a warm country. I would also buy myself a jet ski and then spend my mornings in the water followed by the afternoons basking in the sun with a book or writing my screenplay.

$1millionUSD wow that's like twice the amount in Canada :p

Travel for a minimum 1 year around the world, to everyplace I ever wanted to go. Buy a very nice house, where I don't no, depends which country I like most on my travels :) If I got anything left I'd go back to school to learn something I'm more interested in or just go back to work!

$1m USD is nothing in the USA if you want to live on it. Moving to a different country would definitely be on the cards though, where the cost of living is minimal. Somewhere like Hawaii. :loco:

take a leave of absence from my job. buy a house on an isolated hilltop. build a bunker in preparation for the impending apocalypse. landscape so that bunker is provided with adequate fields of fire. get satellite tv and radio (I'm getting xm satellite radio this friday, woo hooooo!)
You what?

you buy the tuner and then you can either/or buy the base set for your car, or your home, or you can buy the boombox frame. the tuner pops out and can be moved from car to box to a cradle which connects to your home stereo. I'm going with the boombox first, for portability...

so an initial outlay for me is about 230 bucks for the box and tuner, plus you have to pay four months up front in subscription.

I really wrestled with this but I figured that for less than a decent lunch per month I was greatly expanding my radio/entertainment choices. the only thing that would suck is if the whole organization goes bankrupt :(
