I'd buy a few cheap/shitty houses that are next to each other, and wait 5 years until some developer wants to buy the land to build townhouses and pays me a retarded amount of money for them. I'd still have about 500k left, i'd take that and pay off all my debts, get some additional schooling done, and give myself a salary of 30k a year and live off it until that housing stuff ripends. Likely working a part-time job while I wait.

I'd get myself and the other half a nice place somewhere, and spend a fair chunk on first putting myself through audio technology/sound engineering/live sound mixing/music production/instrument tuition courses, then when I have the know-how, get together a business plan and start my own studio. I'd probably work in studios while I was doing the courses as well, getting hands-on experience and learning from pros as well as just learning the theory.
