To be fair, despite the dissonant chord voicings, most Averse Sefira isn't particularly difficult to play (although they have their moments; that sweep in "A Shower of Idols" is beyond ridiculous, as is a fair amount of "Viral Kinesis"), and certainly not as hard as Immolation of Suffocation...

According to MKM, it's because every single one of their shows on that tour sucked, and the tour was a complete embarassment to the band. Apparently, at the first show, there were multiple points where one guitarist would be playing one song, second guitarist and bassist another, and drums...

Definitely Averse Sefira, but calling them "orthodox" black metal is a stretch. The only reason they're lumped into that sub-sub-genre so frequently is because of their ties to Antaeus, Watain, and Secrets of the Moon. S.V.E.S.T. would be next, although their recent split with DSO fucking...

Anti-Watain posts probably have a lot to do with "Sworn to the Dark" sucking ass. The first album was brilliant, and so was about half of the second; but SttD (just one letter away from STD...) is Gothenburg masquerading as "true black metal".

And, again, Funeral Mist wasn't doing the "religious" thing until "Salvation", so of cousrse "Devilry" and "Havoc" weren't influenced by Ofermod. "Devilry"'s lyrics don't take the religious approach any more than "In the Nightside Eclipse" or "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas", or, as you mentioned...

Only problem with this- Funeral Mist jumped on the orthodox bandwagon with "Salvation"; their lyrical approach on previous albums was quite far from what is now considered "orthodox". Coincidentally, that's right when their music started to become uninspiring. Salvation is better than...

After downloading and listening to the recently released "Life Eternal" EP by Mayhem, I can safely say that there was no reason at all for this to exist, other than for Atilla to make more money.

Listening to it again, I realized the perfect compairson: It's like Rush with a few vestiges of black metal. Bleh.

Meh, listening to song 1 now, I'm a bit disappointed. It's a lot more conventional this time around, far "catchier" and bouncier in its rhythms. EDIT- What the FUCK, why does this have a god damn Metallica-style guitar solo?

What are you on about? Tiamtu is easily the best album out of Sweden since "Far Away From the Sun", would be album of the year were it not for "Advent Parallax", and, yes, much better than their classic EP. And, really, there's only one filler song (Topethian Cleansing).
