IRs and Nebula programs of guitar cabs - Kalthallen Cabs released

27a is my favourite EDIT: Wait, no it isn't 19 is good for meaty midrangey tones, and 34 is good when more definition is needed

    O. Haha. Reassuringly I'd come to more or less the same conclusion by compressing the guitar track and slowly turning the volume knob.

IRs and Nebula programs of guitar cabs - Kalthallen Cabs released

Are you still going to do the 2x12 one for cleans? I'm immensely looking forward to it if so. Although you can get a pretty good clean tone with the md421 ones. Also, what's the recommended volume going into nebula? There's a certain point where some high midrangey frequencies start creeping...

Disregard that post. My ears are too tired to be trusted. On his gear page the cab seems to be completely anonymous though.

Should the power amp in the amp sim be disabled when using these?

YT: Match EQ and IR Tutorial!

Yep. Lecab sounds all horrid, like a guitar DI but with some weird phasey issues going on. And one impulse I made Voxengo Boogex seems to think is a reverb, and so makes this weird, shimmering, sweeping sound, where it plays the low frequencies several seconds before the high ones. It's quite a...

    Grainy tone, losing all hope

Watch Clark Kent's newer video, where he goes more in-depth and tells you how to clear the thingy by clicking on the grey area. I got grainy tones until I watched that as well, because I didn't know how to use snapshots properly. Having said that, this technique isn't as perfect as it first...

Microspirit - Paul Walsh (Canadian Alt Metal)

Guitars sound weird, muddy, bassy and muffled. And too loud.

YT: Match EQ and IR Tutorial!

This is awesome. Although my favourite tone is Opeth on Still Life, and making an impulse of it has just made it obvious that it's far too distinctive to be useable. Also, you don't necessarily have to match the original tone, because any difference will be made up for. I made an awesome IR...

Rock song (awesome singer - no auto-tune)

Guitars too loud, vocals too quiet, I think. Since the vocals seem to be the most important part of most of this song. This mix would be perfect for a more guitar-based metal song, but doesn't quite work for this type of songwriting.

    My take on Djenty Metalcore

Guitars have too much gain, and are too low in the mix. And is there any bass at all? There's a huge lack of low end. That's probably why it sounds thin. EDIT: Changed my mind, the guitars aren't too low in the mix - they just sound it because in the intro, the clean guitars are a bit louder...

    First Axe Fx ultra song

Despite what you said, this seems to have more depth and space than a lot of brootle metal mixes on here, which I like. Not as fatiguing and everything-directly-in-front-of-your-face-ish. EDIT: Also, the toms at the start sound ridiculously fake. That's probably because they are, but I'd stick...

Not exatly metal, but please lend me your ears

Vocals could benefit from some reverb.
