    Observation about BRT's 'Altered Genesis'

I'm glad this thread was brought up. Amazing album and easily surpasses their previous albums in creative output and my god, the vocals are easily some of the best I have heard in terms of sustained tempo and range. I've been practicing singing 'Smite' and 'Mephitication' ever since I heard the...

Former Opeth Addicts who now rarely listen to Opeth...

I still follow Opeth but VERY rarely do I listen to them anymore. I am constantly listening to new music (almost hit 500 bands) on my computer. I'm also constantly ordering new CDs and going to shows, so I rarely spend too much time on a band anymore. The last few days I've been listening to...

    Bloodbath 2004

Yeah guys I've had a few days to listen to the whole album quite a few times. I must say I am thoroughly impressed with Peter's vocals (far surpassing my expectations), and it isn't a weak point on the album at all, I didnt miss Mikael's vocals all that much when I went through it. All songs...

    Releaseparty

heh, as much as I'd like to see "Crimson" played live, or to see Bloodbath tear it up, to see Nightingale would be fantastic. Sad to say, though, that my problem lies being in the wrong part of the world. When you tour western Canada, Dan, the band is welcome to stay with me. Just for me you...

Am I the only one that thinks........

Wow, Bleak is certainly one of my favorite... goes 'full circle' the way a song should.

Let's face it: Dan Swano is a more veratile musican than Mikael

Dan Swano certainly is amazing... the shear quantity and quality of his music is overwhelming.

    Borknagar - Epic

If you are going to checkout Borknagar I suggest you seek out previous albums rather than "Epic." Find the song "Colossus" and you may be reminded of some Opethian passages.

    Has anyone randomly met Opeth?

Wow, now we know we have a child posting in the forum.

Recent influx of new opeth fans

I'll freely admit I've only been into 'extreme metal' for about 3 years now and it all started with a band called In Flames and a song called "Embody the Invisible." Suffice to say Soilwork, Children of Bodom and other generic melodic death metal bands followed in my collection. Opeth, however...

Recent influx of new opeth fans

I'm sure everyone posting here has been 'touched' by Opeth in many ways, in both melody and brutallity of the voice that is Opeth. You dont sound out of place yet, my young metalhead. Your journey as just begun in extreme music.

Who would you like Opeth to tour with?

I agree, completely. In Flames, CoB, Arch Enemy and Soilwork are the most generic and boring of the melodic death metal genre (these were my first extreme metal bands, too... funny how that works).

    Opeth And Religion / Faith

I remember an interview (I might be off) from a couple years ago where Mikael said "I never took to religion" or something like that, even though i think his family was somewhat religious? Something along these lines.

Who would you like Opeth to tour with?

Katatonia Diabolical Masquerade Edge of Sanity Opeth Encore: Bloodbath Now that is a show to behold. I agree with Agalloch being a nice fit, too.
