Hi guys,

It has been a long time since I posted anything here. Been quite busy at work which kind of kills your inspiration.

So, I've finally been able to finish some ideas I had for a while. I'm actually not sure if I like the result or not, it's a bit different than what I usually end up with, hehe.

For this song I used my mexican lone star strat tuned to Eb, it gives it a bit of a different feel compared to the super tight emgs. Sorry for the sloppy playing and the out of tune bends, I'm simply not a very good guitar player :)

Guitars are TSE x30 + nick crow 8505.
Bass are just my cheap thomann bass into AmpegSVX
Drums are sup 2.0 + sample for kick.

Any opinions of the mix/song?

Loud!

Well balanced! everything has own space

Bass guitar fill what emg's usually do when there is no rhythm guitar

Doh, just noticed that I forgot to add a title to the thread. Oh well... :)

The guitar chain is pretty simple, a total of 4 rhythm tracks (although they don't play the same thing all the time, so not really quadtracked). 2 tracks are x30, 2 are 8505. Screenshot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1063820/settings.png
No boost, just sim -> 1on-pres8 and spres-high impulse. Only post eq is -4db cut at 250 hz, +4 db 1400 hz and lp at 12000hz.

excellent. really good song. i´ve all your songs in my ipod and i can´t stop to listen them these last weeks.:p
what master settings did you use for this song?

Sounds good, but I'm not liking the hats/ride (too.. shimmery? sounds like really loud room or something, on just them two). The widest 2 crashes are also really piercing and annoying. Finally that bass guitar needs editing. It's not poorly played, but its loud, bright and sync'd to the drums and for that it needs to be spot on. Otherwise I really like it. Love the toms.

Hey thanks for listening guys!

Morgan good points, I think it's a common thing with my mixes that I tend to mix cymbals too loud for some reason. That bass indeed needs some editing, I was lazy so I just threw a gate on it instead.

eternally gutted: What do you mean? Like mastering chain? Nothing special, just some GClip into Voxengo Elephant, although I should probably be a bit more careful with the clipping listening back to it now...
