It's been a pretty vital year for me, recording-wise. I've:
-Learned how the studio environment operates and how to work in it
-Learned how boring, yet necessary, live work is for an engineer who likes eating
-Learned how important rooms are in conjunction with a recorded source
-Learned that I need to learn how to tune a drumkit, since most drummers can't do it
-Learned how to salvage a mix using drumagog and an array of compression and EQ tools
-Learned that a lot of patience is required in dealing with recording guitarists who play worse than you do
Many more things, but I think those are the main ones.
