It's in Freeport? Wow, right by the coast. I was expecting it to be up north near the mountains, created by that effect of air masses going up and down mountain ranges, like the Peruvian desert.

Indeed. Even real deserts have stuff growing in them. So by definition a desert cannot be just any place where no plants can grow.

I like the movie a lot. Mainly because it is inhuman feeling. I tend to like movies or books that seem really divorced from reality.

The movie wasn't bad, but it missed out on SO much content from the book that it's just fucking ridiculous. The book is way way way way way better, so much better in fact, that after watching the movie I felt cheated.
