So we're 1/3 of the way in and I have 4 albums released this year. What else is out there? I know I still need Drudkh, but theres way too much else being released to keep up with! I'm loving this year so far.

Tool - 10,000 Days
Katatonia - The Great Cold Distance
OM - Conference of the Birds
Summoning - Oath Bound

Drudkh - Blood in Our Wells
Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue
Tool - 10,000 Days
Tenhi - Maaët

That is what I own.

Tool - 10,000 Days
Pharaoh - The Longest Night
Killing Joke - Hosannas From the Basements of Hell

A little further down the list:
Jesu - Silver
Boris - Pink
Lair of the Minotaur - The Ultimate Destroyer
OM - Conference of the Birds
Ministry - Rio Grande Blood

I've got Pink and Flood on order from Aquarius right now! Holy fuck am I ever excited about that. Especially Flood. I've known it'd be my favourite Boris album since well before I heard the band, and I think I was right!

OK we can have another thread for this.... :loco:

Good stuff off the top of me 'ead:

Summoning
Wolfmother
Drudkh
Satyricon
Dissection -> yep, I dig it and aint afraid to admit it
Tool
Amorphis
Wolves in the Throne Room (if you're dismissing the demo original)

Needs more listens, but could be total win eventually:

Celtic Frost
Pharoah -> this one did nothing, and then the next day, I was like, "woah" -- thanks Eminor
Katatonia
Witchery
Zyklon

Still to come:

Hammers
Agalloch
Negura

And a bunch of stuff I'm on the fence with or don't like.

And look, no having to sift through heaps of metalcore, no shit promos, not a single review read. All me and my own discretion. :D

That Celtic Frost album isn't doing much for me. I got it for review at metalreview, and I've listened a bunch of times, but no luck. I didn't expect much, but I always held out a little hope. The only really good song is track 7 "Domain of Decay".

Aeternus
Drudkh
Jesu
Summoning
Devin Townsend

Jesu wins. Too much good stuff from the latter 80's and 90's I'm discovering to bother with clones and crappy comebacks.

most of the stuff I've aquired this year has been really old
except the tool + dave gilmour albums
but I'd rate the ministry as one I'll buy in the future

I really like the wolves in the throne room demo but thats not 2006 is it?

Best Ministry album since Psalm 69. I reviewed it at Metalreview, but really, I've already given you all the info that's needed.

You're right--the Wolves demo is from last year.

And JK: not a single metalcore promo for me either. Or last year. Or the year before. 200 reviews and no metalcore.;)

Cretin "Freakery" but I'd only recommend this to fans of Repulsion and Terrorizer.

heard this ... pretty good, but obviously nothing new .. good spirit on the disc though
