I own albums by 3 of the 4, but find all those bands to be less than stellar.
The show was cool, overall. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the the opening band most (blanking on their name). Kind of felt like Akercocke meets Isis. Cool stuff. Deafheaven was OK. They are what they are, which is to say they are unspectacular. Alcest was good, but kind of dull. Their songs just sort of run into one another, with not enough energy to sustain a live performance.how was the Alcest show Zod?
Not sure how it works either... wish I did. That said, why does it surprise you I find those bands less than stellar? Is there a band you're thinking I like, that makes my comment surprising?I seriously have no fucking clue how your mind works. You don't make any sense, ever.

I really like both "Crack the Sky" and "Snakes for the Divine". However, with both bands, their other works are very hit and miss for me.I thought you'd like Mastodon a lot actually and at least enjoy HoF. Guess not.

The new one is definitely similar. However, there are songs on the new one that flat out don't work for me, that keep from reaching for the disc.If you like Crack the Skye, it's hard to imagine you not liking the new one too. It's the same style but more streamlined.
