2012 Metal Thread

Hmm I'm quite happy with the length. There's such a thing as too much where "mentally exhausting" music is involved, as Fas showed for me, never could stomach that album.
Drought has some of these complex parts but it's more oxygenated and kind of melodic/dreamlike in a singular way.

Great stuff anyway

Actually, having listened to the new Nile in my car today, am pleased with it musically, though I think the production sounds thin. They've definitely pushed the focus more on melody and less outrageous song structuring, but it works for their style. Nothing new there, but I like it.

Downloading the new DSO now, have high hopes.

New Katatonia track.

Some quick thoughts about it,
No soaring chorus, is there a chorus at all?
Very heavy and bombastic production.
Some new instrumentation in the middle of the song, sounds fresh.

Heh, a little too bombast and uplifting for me. I found the last album to be total ass, elevator music has more oomph. The 20 secs at the tail of this song almost got me interested, but not quite. DoDS anyone?

I found the last album to be total ass

i was disappointed at first but like every katatonia album it requires a year or two to grow properly, now i really like it. "the longest year", "forsaker", "the promise of deceit", "departer", "liberation", "onward into battle": all classics

"idle blood" is still shit though

posting this on the off chance someone (lurch??????????????) may care
