2012 Prog, Power, or Symphonic Metal

Ulterium does not have a new Harmony album on the 2012 planned releases list. Bear in mind, all the guys in the band are in both Harmony and Darkwater, so I'd expect them to have a slower release schedule than most bands would.

I'm aware of that and I think it's quite reasonable too, being two bands at the same time.
Also, I'm really interested in that '2012 planned releases list' of yours. A list usually contains a minimum of two items right?:loco:

Didn't Devin Townsend release Ghost just last year? That guy is on a roll.

Devin Townsend has stated on his Twitter that he is working on a new album, entitled "Epicloud". He described the album as "Big, heavy, romantic kind of melodic stuff. Pretty, ethereal and simple." Anneke Van Giersbergen will take part in the album. He also started working on Ziltoid the Omniscient 2 for 2013.

FYI, Ulterium posted this on their Facebook page a few weeks ago: "Darkwater are currently working on new material for their third album."

The Sacrificed just came out with "III" (their third album). They are a Christian prog metal band in the vein of early Queensryche. I just recently picked up their 2nd album "2012" (ironically released in 2010). I haven't picked up the new one but probably will sometime soon.

Neal Morse (with Mike Portnoy and Randy George) will have his newest album come out in the fall. He's not a dedicated "metal" artist, but I mention him here for these reasons:
1. His music is Epic Symphonic Prog with metallic leanings.
2. His lyrics are overtly Christian (and awesome) the same way Theocracy's is.
3. Mike Portnoy is his drummer and all my friends that are fans of PPS Metal are fans of Portnoy and they dig everything I play them from Neal Morse.
4. Neal Morse's albums are INCREDIBLY AWESOME.

If you want to get a taste (maybe) of one of the new Sonata songs, I am seeing numerous people online saying that Losing My Insanity is "an old song Tony wrote for Ari Koivunen's first album". Not sure if that's true, but here's the song in question:

I picked up The Sacrificed's new album "III." There's one track on youtube (see below). I also like the cover they do of Queensryche's Before The Storm.

This thread seems like the perfect place for me to mention again my "new power/prog/symphonic metal music" service PPS Metal. Basically, I post new music every day. I usually look for 2012 releases. If I don't find any on a given day, then I post a 2011 song from a band's most recent album. I've been going for about three weeks now. Take a look and see if you like the stuff I've been posting. If you do, please consider giving me a Like/follow.
