Current unemployment rates for college grads per The Motley Fool web site (usually pretty well researched): 3.9%. This is less than half the national average. Go to school. We're all doing everything we can to ensure a PP 14.

This. I can tell you from the HR perspective that a degree is a huge factor in hiring decisions, even when it probably shouldn't be. It also impacts pay significantly.
You know what? Just send your parents to this discussion. They'll see we're not Satanic monsters or serial predators and that we're telling you to get an education. How convincing is that?

Well, I am an Assistant Professor; so I would be happy to give a lecture and assignment if that makes your parents happy. Otherwise I agree with others, take the tuition over the fest. You have many years of concert going ahead of you. Take the long term benefit over the short term.
As much as I'd like to see people buy tickets, what the fuck is wrong with you? Go to fucking school. (Though I can't imagine why taking 2 days off of classes = dropping the entire semester).
BTW, I read somewhere that over $20mil/year of grant money goes unpaid because nobody sends in an application! If your parents cannot cover the cost of school, do whatever you have to do to get your degree--you will make up for the student loans 10X over with your increased salary.
