Why did Buffalo need to send Scott to maul Kessel? It's not Toronto's fault Tropp tried to fight somebody bigger.

No no, I thought it was laughable that Scott went after Kessell...I couldnt believe it when first seeing it lol.

I was talking about Scott being added last year, their need to toughen up and why Buff originally inserted him at that time.

Oh man im hyped. They finished strong and are now a legit contender for a title. Didnt think the Sox would finish in the top three in the division. The whole make up of the team has changed drastically from a year ago.

Back to Scott...i totally get why Buff inserted him. Traditionally a tough team that recently had been lacking. Buff needed to do something and quickly with an enforcer.

I'm a huge Sox fan not sure if you knew(got that 001 social baby!) and I saw them in april at Cleveland and they are coming here to Denver wednesday/thursday I think, I kinda wanna see Bucholz pitch and Xander play but not sure if they both will..only thing better than playoff baseball is march madness and hockey to me! Been blessed with good baseball years since i've been alive(think i've been a sox fan since 02 or something)

You're not paying attention. I never said that physical hockey is pointless, I said that guys who do nothing but fight are useless. You need guys who can play and provide toughness these days, you don't need that Semenko or Probert type anymore. Most of those guys like Parros don't even hit or enforce. Parros just fights staged fights.

And up until a couple years ago, the Northeast (now Atlantic) teams were a bunch of smurfs on ice outside of Boston. The Pacific was winning Cups with tough teams like the '12 Kings and '07 Ducks (who raped the team who raped your Sabres).

You are forgetting the marketing aspect of the game, hockey is the only sport where fighting is allowed, and it's trying to expand so the league will definitely encourage it and you as a hockey fan should as well. More people watching, we can get it back on television and start bringing more respect to USA hockey and dominating the global circuit.

Montreal, Toronto, Buffalo have all been rebuilding recently, LA did it since Gretzky left so not sure what you're bringing up here. Boston still plays their own style and so do we, but i'd say Montreal is kind of comparable in a dominant physical way(but let's be honest they aren't there yet)

Why did Buffalo need to send Scott to maul Kessel? It's not Toronto's fault Tropp tried to fight somebody bigger.

We gotta get the facts right here. Toronto big kid (30 lbs on our young 'tough' RW) beats up our guy and slams his head on the ice, concussion(not sure if on purpose or not--didnt look like it) and then we send out our big man and how does Toronto respond? Sending out their stud line. Not our fault they did that, and then who knows what Kessel said to Scott before hand and there's always tons of kids who dodge fighting the big guys, look at Galchenyuk in our preseason game against Kaleta--that's what you do when you know you shouldn't fight, not this stick shit.

Yeah i knew you were a Sox fan...ive been a fan forever- decades. I'd love to go see them in Colo someday...have some friends out there. The big thing now is rest and getting the rotation in order for the playoffs.

Speaking of fights...there were a handful in the Bs v Caps game lastnite. Wow, I cant remember this much fighting in a preseason. Lucic's v Rechlicz bout was epic as fook!...Youtube it. I tried copying it but couldnt on my cell and with youtubes new stupid layout.

EDIT: just had to download clipboard app onto cell allset. Play, share, to clipboard, paste...for those wondering what happened to the copy url option (no longer on new youtube format)

Clarkson is the real idiot here. Most overpayed player for the leafs. And to top it all off does he really think he's going to win his appeal to an "AUTOMATIC 10-GAME SUSPENSION". LOL

I dont know, why wouldn't he? Kessel for acting in that way gets suspended the pre-season and no regular season penalties, what bs. Whens the last time you seen a player do that?

Also, our coach got fined for 'player selection', NHL is fucking weird.

Today I will watch the game of Montreal vs. NJ (from 23th). I read in the news that Jágr should play wth the Devils tomorrow so yeah, I will watch that too, eventually. Isn't he like 50?

Just about. You follow any other Czech players?

Well I watched the NJ game where Židlický scored two days back. I like NJ because of the three czech players really. Today I watched Pittsburgh vs. Detroit where Detroit put Mrázek in the goal and he did well, they just didn't stand a chance against Crosby etc., mostly mistakes in the center field really.

EDIT: What other czech players are around that come to mind?

Watching yesterday's Boston vs. Winnipeg reminded me of another two czechs - Frolík and Pavelec.

EDIT: I read quite a pessimistic prediction about NJ's chances in the NHL season but I think they are fine as they are now. Apparently they didn't shoot many goals last season and now with Kovalchuk gone the results are bound to be even worse. And they say Jágr is too old to help the team in any way. BULLSHIT!

Finally there's fucking real hockey tonight. My Ducks start tomorrow, too.

Kessel gets 8x8 deal from Toronto, Sabres have two captains (Vanek and Ott), and the Oilers named fucking SIX alternate captains (stuuuupid).

I can't wait to watch the first game or two tomorrow after school.

found this on /r/hockey

T'was the night before hockey, and all through the land

Not a skater was stirring (for fear they'd get banned).

The sticks were all taped and the goalie pads shortened

And Byfuglien was finally gone from Tim Horton's.

The players and coaches lay snug in their beds

While visions of trophies danced 'round in their heads -

Of Vezinas and Harts, of Conn Smythes and Rockets

(though others just hoped for big checks in their pockets).

And the fans lay asleep, oh the dreams that they dreamed!

Of cup-winning squads, and Bettman getting creamed!

The refs all praying, as they tossed through the night,

That just one single game, they might get it all right.

And I had lay down, to catch a few z's,

When I heard a loud crash, and felt a chill freeze.

I leaped up from the mattress, and rushed down to the stairs,

Little expecting what I'd find to be there;

An impossible scene - why, I had to look thrice -

My living room'd changed into one made of ice!

An immense scene of sport, I knew not what to think

Of a commonplace room turned to huge hockey rink.

And more than just that (and so much much more)

The freshly done ice was hosting a war!

Two sets of men fought for that greatest reward

Stanley in their eyes as they leapt 'cross the boards

I saw Sidney Crosby battling Claude Giroux

And the Great Gretzky deking one Mario Lemieux.

Brodeur (in young form) diving cross the crease

And Datsyuk's stick magic ne'er ceasing to cease.

Karlsson streaked in from backline to score

But was rebuffed by the stick of Bob Orr.

I saw Coffey and Gordie and LaFleur and Yzer,

Among hosts of others, some younger, some wiser.

The greatest of greats, from future and past,

Oh would that I'd known that the scene would not last,

For then my eyes opened, and I saw the sun beam,

And I realized that game had been but a dream.

I near shed a tear in sake of regret.

What a game it had been, a sensation, and yet

I thought "What is there to be seen this new season?

Could there not be still better?" I reasoned.

And I say to you all, on this eve of goal lights:

Sleep well and dream, on this last of dark nights.

Prepare for great saves, chanting keep's name.

Prepare for great shots, near alight with flame.

Prepare for great moves, that make d-men cry

Prepare for great passes, placed through needle's eye

Prepare for great hits, a great sound like a crack

Prepare for it all, because hockey is back!

I can't wait to watch the first game or two tomorrow after school.

Do you have an nhl.com account or do you stream games live? I've been thinking of getting a subscription so I can watch the day after, getting really tired of staying up so late to catch games. What's even worse is that I'm a Vancouver fan so most games I watch tend to stop at around 3:30 AM.

Thank god the Olympics are in Russia, the hockey will be played at around 5 in the afternoon here.

I just download the game the day after and I DON'T LOOK AT THE RESULTS before. :p I couldn't stay up all night even if I had the means to watch it live.

EDIT: Now that I'm looking into it, one czech channel does broadcast one of the games tonight but I'm not sure about the quality if I find a way to stream it online. :(
