this oughtta gets 'gugs attention. :loco:

is the extra half litre worth it? i mean Bimmers are about handling anyhow so i figure no. i didn't get the 2.5l WRX, i got the 2.0l for the same reason. if i wanted to drag race i'd go buy a '67 Firebird.

While there's no real reason to get a 330 over a 325 NADster, there's no real reason NOT to, except for as Zod's pointed out, budget.

If all one can afford is the 325, it surely won't disappoint. It's a baaaaad ride, especially if you opt for the Xi version (AWD) and the 17" wheels + performance pkg. Mmmmm...driving.

umm, this isn't for me. :loco:

i've always driven Jap cars and likely always will. reliability is my number one concern in a vehicle, and well, 'nuff said.

i still don't understand how anyone can question the reliability of Jap cars. i mean, so you saw one blow up with 498,429 miles and for some reason think it's a piece of crap?!

i can only really speak for Honda, Suzuki, and Toyota though. Subaru i only have mine and it only has 25k miles. Nissan i've seen good and bad.

Jap cars are like chicks that you eventually settle for, reliable, boring ... German and others ... like the annoying, unreliable slutty chick that will give you a headache .... but damn what a ride :loco:

I am going to check out that A3 Audi ... I priced out out online ... $30K even for a loaded 2.0 ... there is the new 2.5 with a little more juice but about $8K more.

so to answer your question ... if I had the dough, yes the bigger engine woudl be better. But fuck ... my MINI, is a 1.4 115hp ... and it hauls ass ... anything double will whip my ass.

What's not for you? BMW? If so, how come?
no like, the chick i'm seeing is probably going to get one soon, and i know you've owned a 325 before. just wanted to see if it was good enough since it is considerably cheaper. although it's mainly so i can say "yeah, the 325 is fine, get that one" because i know my WRX can take it. the 330 i'm not so sure about. :Spin:

oh i'm joking, i told her to get the M3 anyhow. i guess the new one won't be out for another year or so though.

@lurch, yeah most Jap cars are boring. my WRX isn't, but even for a sports car, it it relatively tame.

look at nad ... already car shopping with the chick ...

pretty soon, you'll need a minivan

lurch, you're a bit off on the A3.

Fully loaded it's over $38K; I went to check them out. AND, to top that off, AWD is ONLY available on the higher-end DSG models, so you're 100% over $35K at that point.

I wasn't impressed at all with the car; it's basically a frickin' hatchback. No thanks.

227hp, 217tq. base 2.0l engine. you're right about the gearing though. fuckin any company that has a 5-speed transmission that isn't overdrive kicks ass to me.

You would need to be the best driver in the world to outrace even a base model 325, btw. Those cars are just flat-out fast. I've never seen a car accelerate from 75-125 in 5th gear like that. It just goes.

i priced it online ... there are 2 models ... 2.0 and a 2.5 ... both offer DSG.
but only the 2.5 has the all wheel drive Quatrro.

the 2.0 with DSG is $30K loaded ...

try it online.

I just have a thing against them. The quality just isnt there in my opinion and they are as common as a grain of sand, I like something different.

498,429 miles out of a jap car, thats got to be one of the funniest things you have ever said.:loco:

The quality isn't there in which cars? This conversation is fragmented, lol.

Ok, that is possible, but finding a 2.0 is apparently not the easiest thing in the world to do. I could have SWORN the guy at the dealership told me the DSG is only available in the 2.5, and the DSG is the only way to get AWD. He could have been saying that and meaning they're simply not ordered that way, i.e. it'd be a custom order to get a 2.0 w/ DSG.

Regardless, it was a less-than-impressive vehicle for $30K and up.

really? i sorta figured on a roadcourse it'd be up to driver skill, at least v. the 325. shit i dunno, the only racing i ever get is v. giant SUVs and ricers thinking their 1991 Civic hatchback with a 4" exhaust are fast.
