325 v. 330

lol @ you guys considering a >$30,000 purchase (of a rapidly depreciating liability) in order to travel at higher than normal velocities. i'm right there with you though, haha
i dont think i can stand to have a car payment though. my two ten year old cars will have to suffice.
that said, how come you guys dont consider motorcycles? especially NAD who lives in the desert? a $3000 250 ninja will accelerate with that $40,000 BMW no problem and a $10000 600 sportbike will make it look like it's standing still. just wondering.
i mean, why not get an old f150 pick up for like $2000 and drive it when its raining or snowing......and ride the sportbike the rest of the year?

try this page for the brands with the best residual values ... BMW won again this year.

heck my MINI after 2.5 years .... bought it for $20.5K ... Blue Book value is still close to $18K even dealer trade in is $15K

that sounds good and been down that route before, driving cheap cars ... but the repairs were costing me as much as spending $350 a month for a new one.

hahaha, what kinda of car were you driving?!
ive made 2 repairs each on my 2 ten year old cars. and ive fucked with my mx5s engine so much, im surprised it still works. yet, no engine repairs whatsoever. same with the camry.

an early 90s F150 would cost virtually nothing to operate. do you know how many of them exist? however, i doubt the efficacy of driving a full size pick up in NYC. you see my point though. the motorcycle would be the main source of transport.

old Jap cars I cannot drive as I don't fit in them proper ... so they are out ... old American cars ... well they are a money pit from my experience.

I drive a lot in stop and go traffic daily ... on the MINI ... in 28K miles ... i am on my almost on my 3rd set of brake pads.

Besides, I would not be caught dead driving a pickup ... no need for one either, what am I to haul? ...

cars are very personal things ... when I bought used, I really did not care much, basically bought one if it was a good deal ... but new ... there are too many factors to consider.

pick ups are actually pretty fun. dunno about driving one in a huge metro area though.

I rarely leave the "city" except sometimes out onto 270 but
linc.jpg

has all the acceleration I could ever want, intimidates wuss drivers, and is the envy of the nignogs in the hood.

hahah ... yes ... still love those old school American boats and how they just float ...

well, i'm on the edge of the desert for starters, which means i deal with LA-like traffic every day. that's like instant death on a bike. but yeah, you're definitely right! if i moved to an area where i wasn't around such heavy traffic, i'd be driving an old 80's 4Runner whenever i couldn't use a bike.

hahaha, you're sooooooooo New York. :loco:

honestly though, until my WRX i'd always driven pickups or some form of 4WD vehicle. why? well i used to offroad consantly and/or had to carry all kinds of music equipment, car parts, etc. all the time. most people in SoCal buy pickups because they are "cool" and nothing more, which is something i don't get. they handle like shit, go slower than poop, and can barely get out of their own way let alone someone else's.

i love big ass american cars. back in the mid 80s we had a grand marquis. it had an amplifier for the tape deck but you had to pull a knob to "turn it on". it said something like "amplifier pull". it rrruuuuuuuullllllllled. didnt make it past 100,000 miles though. surprise surprise.

i was at krogers a little while ago. i read a cycle magazine. in the letters section someone had sent in a pic of a bike that had been rear ended by a bus. the damage was really not that severe. looked like the rider couldve just gotten off the bike with maybe a bruised back or something. actual result? death. thats what sucks about bikes. you wreck? you die.
