I know I'm leaving out way more, but I have to be selective. This for all of you that get pissed off with those Norwegians and Swedes and all their group hopping! Take that!

If ITW had never broken up, we wouldn't have Green Carnation...and one of the best arguments for side projects is Dream Theater, all of them are involved in multiple outside projects that have producd some great music, have little detrimental effect on the band, and some positive ones...

@Demonspell: Damn, you beat me to it... LTE 1 and 2, Transatlantic, Mullmuzzler, Platipus, Explorer's Club plus all of Jordan Rudess's stuff... Then you have Chroma Key and Planet X, not side-projects but still...

I'm afraid I don't agree. Up until APC happened, I loved all of Maynard's vocals. APC had some vocals I really hated, like the beginning of Judith. Sadly, I think some of the experimenting with vocal styles in APC carried over to TOOL in Lateralus. Thus, I don't like Lateralus as much as TOOL's previous albums.

Boo side projects.

I actually prefer APC to Tool. Blasphemy to some, maybe, but at least with APC you don't have to sit around listening to 10 minutes of indulgent noodling before anything happens...

I always thought Tool had been listening to too much Sense Field anyway.. (buy "Killed For Less" and "Building".)

Edge Of Sanity is a side project. Dan Swano says himself on his page that Unicorn is the only band that he is REALLY in, the rest are side projects. It's on the Swano Family site (forget the URL)

I know what he says, I know what he feels, but the fact is, EoS is the band that released album after album and even toured.

Lee your the first person I've ever heard mention Sensefield before. I love both of those albums. Glad to hear someone else has heard of them...

I guess they're not a big name in the world of metal, but they're pretty huge (or at least were) in the emo scene.

Do you have the brand new album "Tonight And Forever"? It broke my heart to hear it. They're a shadow of their former selfs. All that explosive passion has been replaced by limp-wristed rock-lite shite.

They're playing London in June, so hopefully they'll play at least a few older tracks.
