5150/cabinet tests....

ok so I finally got around to testing out my 1960a cabinet against my friends 1960AV. We used one of his tracks, which had less the stellar DIs (super low level), but I included the original guitars and an mp3 of both of the cabinets.

Chain:

Little Labs IBP---maxon 820----5150---cabinet

The originals are heavily eq'd (and clipping!), but the cabinets just have a little filtering/andy's c4/ and a boost of about 2.5 at 3.5k. Which do you like better, and which cabinet is which?

i think cab 2 is the 1960a because it sounds fizzy. i liked the cabinet 1 more alot more.

First sounds better no matter what cab it was.

I like cab 2 better although they both sound good. At least it sounds better in this particular mix. I'd definately say those are v30s in cab 2.

Cabinet 1 sounds a lot better to my ears.

Cabinet 1= 1960a Cabinet 2=1960AV

In fairness, the settings I used on the amp were pretty much tailored for the 1960a (my usual cabinet) so it wasn't exactly a fair test. However, while I like the tone of the AV, I wasn't blown away like I thought I'd be....any suggestions for settings?

Right now I'm running:

Little Labs IBP----Maxon OD 820 (drive 9pm,tone 12pm,level 3pm)----
5150 Sig (Green, Crunch/Bright On, Pre Gain 5, bass 6.5, mid 2.5, treble 7, Out Gan 5, Resonance 7, Presence 6)-----Cabinet with 2 sm57's ala fredmann
