A blind test: Peavey 5150 vs AMT P1 (video)

0 Resonance?
I always change up the treble-presence relationship depending on the project...
I find that you can crank the treble knob if you keep presence a bit lower, on my 6505+ at least!
Mids are fine anywhere from 1 to 3.5 with me

Yeah, with a bass heavy (or it's better to call it rich:) ) old C414 and a mesa cab, the low end is very full with resonance on 0. Did not expect it too. I do agree that treble and presence settings depend on each other, and at the same time treble influences the mid knob behavior greatly. So, even with as few as four-five knobs it's an endless quest to fine a dream tone:)

Thankfully, my ears did not deceive me. I thought 1A was the real amp before I saw the results. It may have had more high end, but it has less "haze." There is a certain "open" quality in amplifiers around 3-4khz that plays a huge role in amp presence IME. It seems like on an amp sim or pedal, that sheen is shifted up closer to 5khz and has a distinct fizz to it.

Great job on this comparison.
